Vendors,
Did you know? If you are a UDAF permitted food vendor and you plan to sample tasty bites of your products at our farmers markets this summer (Salt Lake County), you must have a "sampling permit" displayed in your booth.

Here is a link to the Sampling Permit:https://ag.utah.gov/wp-content/uploads/SAMPLING-UDAF-Form-Rev.-02_2026.pdf

*this permit doesn't apply to those food businesses (served hot and cold) that are regulated by the Salt Lake County Health Department.

Be sure to be within regulations!

Vendors, we are hiring! Perhaps you know someone who wants to join you at the markets, or a neighbor, or a friend or family member. We are looking for market managers and market assistants to work at the markets during the 2026 season. All information is on the application here: https://forms.gle/xeucTmvcPCByHUT19

Thanks for helping us get some good help for the markets this season!

Does your product fall under UDAF jurisdiction? NEW Sampling Permits required for UDAF vendors:

From the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food:
We’d like to share some helpful information regarding food sampling at farmers markets and events. Food Sampling Permits are now available through the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) for eligible operators who wish to offer food samples.

The purpose of this permit is to satisfy a growing need among producers who wish to sample their foods at farmers markets, trade shows, and special events not regulated by the local health department.

This permit option applies to operators under UDAF’s jurisdiction. Vendors preparing hot foods (cooked or heated onsite) will continue to work with their local health department to obtain a temporary event permit, as needed.

Please note that operators under the Home Consumption and Homemade Food Act (Utah Code Annotated 4-5a) are not eligible to provide samples of homemade food products.

For those obtaining a Food Sampling Permit, it should be posted in a visible location at their booth during operation.

For your convenience, we’ve attached the Food Sampling Permit Application for your review. If you have any questions or would like assistance determining which option applies to you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re happy to help.
