Georgia’s grand old lady..standing at 145 feet tall she is the tallest lighthouse in the state of Georgia. This is my scale Lego recreation of the black white sentry that crowns the coast of Tybee Island.

This is my scale Lego recreation of the Morris Island Lighthouse located in Charleston, SC USA. It is over two-feet in height and is made of over 2,000 pieces.

The Morris Island Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in South Carolina standing at nearly 161 feet in height.

Twin sister to the Bodie Island Lighthouse, her construction began in 1873 following the destruction of her predecessor during the American Civil War. After three years she was completed and first illuminated on October 1st, 1876.

Originally erected some 1,200 feet from the shoreline, many-made changes in the tidal patterns eroded the island that tower once stood on. Now, the tower stands over 2,000 feet off-shore. Despite being surrounded by the ocean that she was intended to protect mariners from, the lighthouse still crowns the area around her as a symbol of resilience; she is Charleston’s seaside castle.

This year the tower will celebrate its 150th birthday standing as a sentry to the holy city’s harbor entrance.

She has endured countless hurricanes, storms, and even earthquakes.

But now she desperately needs our help. To be saved; from time & neglect.

Save The Light is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting & preserving the Morris Island Lighthouse for future generations.

Through community engagement, fundraising, & partnerships with public agencies; the group strives to ensure the lighthouse will continue to stand as a beacon of history, safety, & resilience, reflecting the spirit of collective action & the importance of cultural & natural heritage.
