Thank you to the San Benito County Sheriff office for their prompt attention to this. We didn’t expect to see our tractor again!

Sometime last night, a tractor was stolen from Tonascia farms.
Once it was reported, our partners on patrol immediately began working the case and were able to locate fresh tracks that led into the San Benito Riverbed.
While investigating the case, it was learned that several people who knew the suspect witnessed him driving the tractor through the riverbed. The suspect in question also has a history of stealing agricultural vehicles/equipment.
After learning the suspect’s identify, Deputy Martinez utilized his skills as a former Detective and authored a warrant to locate the suspect. Before Deputies could obtain location information for the suspect, the tractor was found by its owners. We’ll keep you updated on their follow up to locate their devious tractor thief.
This incident highlights the value of being a small, tight-knit community, along with strong communication, teamwork, and proactive policing. Through quick coordination, Deputies were able to move swiftly toward a resolution and assist in the recovery of stolen property.
