We are nearly finished with spring planting. With the exception of bunnies eating up 180 cauliflower/broccoli plants (bad bunnies!) everything is looking fabulous. Expecting a mid-May opening with lettuce & micro greens, possibly some cherry tomatoes, onions & carrots. Snow peas will be ready first of June. Excited to open!!

It is finally spring! I have been busy getting ready for spring veggies and we are getting close. Radish, onions, carrots and lettuce coming along quickly. Green beans and peas are up and starting to bloom. A few of my early tomato plants even have fruit on them! Holding on planting my melons, squash and peppers until this weekends possible freeze. Estimate I will begin selling in May. Look forward to seeing everyone very soon!!

We finished the greenhouse expansion, finally! Approximately 1000 sq ft, pellet stove heating, with growing tables, raised beds, shelves for supplies, micro green & mushroom production, walk in fridge & cleaning/packing station. I have started lettuce, salad greens & tomatoes. Cucumbers going in next. I will experiment with hydroponic lettuce and see what else I can grow in here. Should be an exciting winter!

My farm stand will close for the season on Friday, October 10th.
We have had a great season and meeting so many people that share our love of gardening and fresh vegetables is the high point. Thank you to everyone for your support!!

Winter plans – we have just completed a temperature-controlled greenhouse. This means I will be able to grow some vegetables during the winter months and grow heat sensitive plants (salad greens!) during the summer. My plans are to grow head lettuces (butter and romaine), micro greens and mushrooms during the winter. I will also be experimenting with other vegetables to see what I can grow in this new greenhouse. Hopefully, I will have lettuce (and more) ready in time for the holidays!

Follow me on Facebook for updates and availability of produce. I will also post on PPA – People Paying Attention Holton, KS as I have items available. Message me if you have questions.

Summer is not over yet! Tomatoes are beginning to recover from the heat and the stand is being refilled daily. We have begun picking winter squash (spaghetti, acorn, butternut) as well as decorative gourds and pumpkins. Spinach, leaf lettuce and head lettuce are enjoying the cool weather and should be ready in about 3 weeks. The fall green beans are in bloom so we should start picking those soon. Enjoy this beautiful weather and enjoy the summer harvest. We have about 6 weeks until frost creeps up on us!

What a summer! We lost our first planting of corn to Asian beetles - truly heartbreaking. But, it was caught in time to save the second planting! Our plan is to start picking corn this week. I will post once we have it ready to go!

Update - We picked corn today (thank you Ethan Phillips for sweating it out and helping me!!). I am putting about 6 doz on the stand and keeping the rest in the cooler to keep it fresh, replenishing as I need to. Come to the house if I am out at the stand and you need more!!
