Figs are an amazing fruit. In temperate climates (think zones 8-11) you can get various varieties that ripen from May though Dec. Fig jam is delicious and goes really well with cheese which is why it is so often on charcuterie boards at restaurants. There are cold hardy fig varieties so read up on the choices in your area if you are planting one or buying figs from a local farmers market.
