One year ago today the Hawaii 5/6 started Store to Door after one of its members (SSgt Samantha King, 15 Med Gp) introduced the idea. Since then 1,014 volunteers (civilian, Airman, Soldiers, Sailors and Guardians) delivered $256,274.35 worth of goods to 2,112 families.
We are proud of all we were able to accomplish and the impact we were able to make. This would not have been possible without the cooperation of the Hickam Commissary. We appreciate your willingness to be apart of this effort.
Thank you to our customers who were understanding when we were low on volunteers and needed you to reduce items purchased or we asked “are you able to pick your items up”. You helped us reach our capacity each day. Thank you for looking out for one another.
Finally we thank our volunteers! Those who spread the word, those who assisted once and those who assisted multiple times. Every action made it possible for us to do our part in helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and provide vital sustenance. YOU ARE STORE TO DOOR!
While the program has ended we hope this serves as an example of what a community can do when it works together. From an idea of a SSgt, to the to a Corps of NCOs that brought it to life, to community that made it a success; we say thank you and never stop working to make things better!
