Because Instacart became widely used during the 2019 COVID pandemic, you have 2 options for delivery:
1. Leave at door - This let's us Instacart employees know that it is okay to leave your groceries at the door in the event that you (or someone else) is not available to answer the door. If you select this method, your delivery driver should take a picture of your entire order once it has been delivered to your front door/ *specifications, then send you a chat message through the app, notifying you of it's arrival.
2. Hand to customer - ❗ONLY select this option if you or someone else (4 leggeds don't apply🐶🐱😆) is able to meet your Instacart delivery driver at the time of drop off! This is imperative, because should no one be available to hand the order off to, ‼Instacart employees are obligated to return your groceries back to the store they came from‼.
⚜ There is a catch to this though... In the event that something unexpected pops up and you (or someone) isn't able to meet us, you are able (more like must😉) to give us written consent through the app chat message, stating you're okay with us leaving the items at the door! From here, your delivery driver should proceed as if it were like #1.
⚜ In the event that we cannot reach you through chat, most experienced drivers will know how to call you as a last resort before returning the items to the store, so keep eyes and ears out for either a chat message or a phone call👀👂😉
