Hi yall! Hope everyone's doing well and looking forward to the season around the corner. The temps are admittedly a bit haywire, after a winter that wasn't getting May temps in February now it really is May but still not quite willing to warm up. As it goes I suppose, keeping things interesting. Plants have made a nice recovery from that freak freeze, very minimal losses and I managed to piece together some nice starts for your own gardens, I'll be bringing some to the Creamery's plant sale on May 16th and have some available thereafter. Some nice tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and tomatillos that I've been growing for a awhile now so I'm confident they'll work great for you.
I've got all the rapini, cabbages, romanesco, cauliflower, tatsoi, and head lettuces transplanted. I've seeded in the radishes, carrots, beets, and salad greens so we should be seeing those pop in a bit. Provided weather decides to play ball, I'll be seeding out some three sister rows (corn, beans, squash) along with melons and cucumbers this week then look at transplanting all the nightshades (tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, and eggplant). Its about an acre and a half of veggie garden so we'll have a nice stack of stuff for sure. Might even squeeze some herbs in there. I hope we're all hungry this summer!
Good to be back in full flex with mushrooms too. I'll have some nice Pohu and Summer White oysters in the next weeks then come July we'll be shifting to Pinks and Golds; two of my favs. You can see in the pic the 1 day, 1 week, and 2 week growth rate on those. Another fav are the Wine Caps and I've been keeping a close eye on those after issues with slime mold hitching a ride on my aspen chips last year. They're looking nice and clean this year, colonizing the beds quickly and looking strong. I also set up some aspen logs with Lions Mane and Comb Tooth but we probably won't be seeing those until fall.
I'll keep y'all informed as things come in, I'll be down at the Hotchkiss Saturday Market and maybe a couple more venues this year to get you guys some nice goods. As things get in full motion I can get some wholesale deals for ya so whether you're running a local restaurant, market, a private event, or just looking to put up a stack of preserves stay tuned and we can get you something nice what you need.
Looking forward to a beautiful season!
