Hi yall! Hope everyone's having a beautiful day. I'm all set for the Hotchkiss Saturday Market and things are coming together up here. I'll be bringing down the first Oyster Mushrooms and Garlic Scapes of the season. The oysters are looking big and beautiful, very nicely flavored and ready for your plate at $14 per lb (keep in mind a pound of mushrooms is a lot of mushrooms). The Pohu are a more mild flavored mushroom for those a bit averse to the pungent flavor that oysters have and the Summer Whites are excellently flavored and textured. Come on by and try some out for dinner!

If you havent got a chance to work with scapes here's your chance though no rush, we'll have them for a month or so. Tasty mild green garlic flavor, toss them into a stir-fry, chop them up into a compound butter, or get your hands on some nice basil for a choice early-season pesto. At $3 a bag, these are a nice early summer item to take home with you. I also still have the Black Garlic available; a unique preserved garlic that results in chewy black cloves with a light roasted flavor with fruity a choclately notes, wonderful for folding into butter and mash to side up a nice steak or roast. $5 a bulb for a real nice treat to wow the guests.

Lastly, I still have some garden starts available and keep in mind there's still time to slip some nice tomatoes, peppers, eggplant a tomatillo, into the garden so come by and get your garden set up for $3 a plant with some nice heirloom veggies.

Come on down to the Creamery in Hotchkiss from 10-1 to check out these and a whole bunch of great items from your local vendors. Hope to catch ya there!

Hi everyone! Hope we're all doing well. I'm all set for the first Hotchkiss Saturday Market happening tomorrow from 10-1 down at the Creamery and certainly looking forward to it. My mushrooms are pinned up but not quite ready for sale and it's a bit early for the garden goods but I'll have a whole lot of tomato, pepper, eggplant, and tomatillo plants for your gardens available. All of them are heirlooms I've selected over the years for taste, performance, and appearance so I'm confident they'll work well for you. At $3 a plant you can stack up your garden real nice at a nice price.

I'll also be bringing down some Black Garlic I whipped up over winter. Its a garlic preserve that results in soft chewy cloves with a one-of-kind flavor. Its a gentle 'browned' garlic flavor with a deep fruity and somewhat choclately taste. Like a little garlic fruit snack and a very nice gourmet item for the kitchen. Great for chopping up and folding into butter to garnish a steak, stir them into a mash for a very nice side for roast, or just enjoy a healthy little snack here and there. If you haven't tried Black Garlic come by and pick some up, I'll have them jarred up for $5 and you can wow you family and guests with a nice treat.

There'll be some great stuff down at market so swing by the Creamery tomorrow from 10-1 to check it all out. Hope to see you there!

Hi yall! Hope everyone's enjoying a beautiful rainy day. I've had some aphids move in on my peppers in the hoop and thankfully when they showed up so did the ladybugs. Its not actually the grown ladybugs themselves that eat a ton of aphids though they do eat some. Its their larvae, this armorclad lad here, that really gobbles them up. I'll be planting them out in the garden this week and hopefully the ladybugs will just decide to make a nice home here. Happy growing!

Hi yall, it's a beautiful Mother's day and I hope all the moms out there are having a great one. I was poking around the greenhouse and saw the Almond Agaricus is already starting to pop and those plants for sale are looking great, make sure to swing by the Creamery on the 16th to pick up some tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and tomatillo for your garden this year. I moved the first of the oysters into the fruiting area so we should be seeing those pop for the first Hotchkiss Saturday Market alongside some more plants, micros, and maybe even some greens if the nice weather holds. It'll be a great season!

Hi yall! Hope everyone's doing well and looking forward to the season around the corner. The temps are admittedly a bit haywire, after a winter that wasn't getting May temps in February now it really is May but still not quite willing to warm up. As it goes I suppose, keeping things interesting. Plants have made a nice recovery from that freak freeze, very minimal losses and I managed to piece together some nice starts for your own gardens, I'll be bringing some to the Creamery's plant sale on May 16th and have some available thereafter. Some nice tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and tomatillos that I've been growing for a awhile now so I'm confident they'll work great for you.

I've got all the rapini, cabbages, romanesco, cauliflower, tatsoi, and head lettuces transplanted. I've seeded in the radishes, carrots, beets, and salad greens so we should be seeing those pop in a bit. Provided weather decides to play ball, I'll be seeding out some three sister rows (corn, beans, squash) along with melons and cucumbers this week then look at transplanting all the nightshades (tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, and eggplant). Its about an acre and a half of veggie garden so we'll have a nice stack of stuff for sure. Might even squeeze some herbs in there. I hope we're all hungry this summer!

Good to be back in full flex with mushrooms too. I'll have some nice Pohu and Summer White oysters in the next weeks then come July we'll be shifting to Pinks and Golds; two of my favs. You can see in the pic the 1 day, 1 week, and 2 week growth rate on those. Another fav are the Wine Caps and I've been keeping a close eye on those after issues with slime mold hitching a ride on my aspen chips last year. They're looking nice and clean this year, colonizing the beds quickly and looking strong. I also set up some aspen logs with Lions Mane and Comb Tooth but we probably won't be seeing those until fall.

I'll keep y'all informed as things come in, I'll be down at the Hotchkiss Saturday Market and maybe a couple more venues this year to get you guys some nice goods. As things get in full motion I can get some wholesale deals for ya so whether you're running a local restaurant, market, a private event, or just looking to put up a stack of preserves stay tuned and we can get you something nice what you need.

Looking forward to a beautiful season!

Hi everyone, hope everyone's enjoying a well needed rainy day. So how about that freeze last week? I wasn't ready for that one, lowest forecast I got said 25 low. It was 19 up at our place and it stung the nightshades in the hoop for sure. Luckily with some quick pruning a lot of them will make a comeback so we'll have plenty of peppers, tomatoes, and eggplant for the garden. Definitely going to put a damper on plant sales but I'll be able to put a couple trays together for your gardens this year.

It'll be a challenging season between the drought and temperature spikes but we'll have some nice produce for you guys and we'll make a great season out of it, happy growing!
