Also, I love how her head & muffs & beard make a perfect circle ⭕️

It’s really hard not to obsess over my Ermine Ameraucanas. I wish I liked Chicken shows because I would totally enter some 🏆

Not only are they gorgeous but they have the BEST personalities when they grow up!

Anyone interested in breeder quality cockerels?
I can post photos and backgrounds today if so!

Isn’t this how everyone collects their eggs?😜😂😅👀

My chicken is a little artist. From eggs like this one to pink bloomy eggs, it’s always a fun surprise!

It never gets old to see our eggs make it to their final destination without issue. Time to pop them in the incubator and get ‘em cooking!

If you order from me, I always put in hatching instructions & this time of year I would even recommend to have your incubator ready to go when your package arrives and pop them straight in. You can keep the turner off for up to a day but I like them being tilted pretty quickly to reduce the chance of the embryo sticking to the shell membrane. (Always tilting vs rolling for shipped eggs to have a better hatch rate).

Note: If eggs sit in one position too long, the embryo can basically become “glued” to one side of the shell and cause no development or an early death/blood ring.

These are absolutely stunning 🤩 even better in person ✨🥰 Thank you so much White House Black Egg Market for doing what you do and sharing your beautiful eggs with the rest of us 🩷💗🌸💞 Excited to see these babies hatch 🐣 and grow!

A PINK 🩷 Bloomstone Reserve egg - the one from the dozen I posted 🥰

Some days it’s heavy blooms, some days it’s lighter coverage, and the base colors can shift too. Every nest box check feels like a surprise. 🥚✨

👉🏼Who else loves a line that keeps you on your toes? 👀💕

🤩 Over here obsessing over this dozen we just grabbed out of the breeding pens!

The blooms, the speckles, the colors… this one is checking all the boxes for me. 😍🥚

I have a feeling this one won’t sit around very long - especially with the pink and gray blooms 👀

Let’s talk FLOORING & BEDDING 👀🐓
🫶🏼Everyone please weigh in!🫶🏼

I LOVE hearing what everyone uses because there are SO many ways to do it depending on your setup, climate, and flock size.

Here’s what has worked really well for us in the hot/spastic climate of North Texas👇🏼

🌳 RUNS + FREE RANGE AREAS
We use wood chips from a local tree service in all of our runs and parts of our free range area and honestly… it has been our FAVORITE.

✔️ Water filters down through it
✔️ It doesn’t stay muddy
✔️ Adds great texture for the chickens
✔️ Deep Litter Method - We can keep layering more on top over time
✔️ FREE!

Everything has settled down lately so we’re definitely due for another big load 👏🏼

🏖️ We also have a spot for sand (plus wood ash sometimes) for the chickens to dust bathe

🏠 Inside the COOPS
We use h**p bedding inside our coops and overall it’s worked well - when chickens can go out of the space during the day. (We also used h**p bedding for chicks for a while.)

What I’ve noticed:
✔️ WAY less dust while dumping it out
✔️ Soaks up moisture/mud really well
✔️ Gives chicks something fun to scratch
❌ Does need to be mucked out and replaced in small spaces like brooders
❌ Can get a little dusty while pouring it out

🐥 CHICK BROODERS + GROWOUT SPACES
Recently I started trying pelletized horse bedding in our chick brooders and grow out spaces and so far… I’m impressed 👀

What I’ve noticed:
✔️ WAY less dust while dumping it out
✔️ Soaks up moisture/mud really well
✔️ Gives chicks something fun to scratch
❌ Does need to be replaced often if rainy

I’ve also been using it in some muddy grow out pens, and it has helped SO much while we wait to get more wood chips spread everywhere.

☕ Bonus:
Under the roosting bars in our main coop we use coffee bedding and honestly it smells SO nice 😂

Now I wanna know…

❓What do YOU use for:
• coop flooring
• runs
• brooders
• muddy areas

What has worked best for you? What would you never use again? 👀

I mean… I genuinely can’t decide what I love more — the fluffy little chicks or the actual photoshoot itself 😂📸

These babies are out here serving model energy already 💅🏼🐥and those pretty flowers are from her garden!

Y’all said you wanted to hear more farm chaos, and I think that totally jinxed me… chickens really do find the craziest ways to die 😭

Our SWEETEST rooster was out here trying to defend his flock through the fence and somehow managed to get himself all tangled up in the netting. I definitely did NOT see this one coming and didn’t hear it happening to help… poor dude 💀 This is real life.

He really was a good rooster though. Protective, handsome, and always watching over his girls. RIP buddy 🫶🏼🐓
