We have two different types of persimmons in store, Fuyu and Giambo.
Giambo get soft like a water balloon when ripe, and Fuyu stay hard and crunchy.

Not all legends photographed here, but our gratitude extends to all the farmers, creators, and growers that help the Central City Co Op stay true to its mission. Farming and sustainability are challenging and constantly face detours from our ever growing consumer economy. The generations of growers are growing smaller and smaller. But the work and dedication of our farmers never dwindles.

Their passion to provide safe and organic nutrients to the city of Houston is admirable work and for that we are forever thankful of our network of hard working farmers.

On Tuesday, September 8th, we are participating in a statewide food drive organized by the James Talarico campaign.
The cost of living is rising and many of our neighbors are food insecure.
The goal is to bring communities together to collect 20,000 lbs of food for local food banks.
Why 20,000? It is the same number as the price to attend the Billionaire’s Ball in Dallas.
As tech bros and billionaires descend on Texas, we need to think about what kind of decisions those in power are making. We need to be more mindful of the true cost of food, the lives of our farmers, and ways in which we can come together to help one another.
In addition to accepting canned goods, Central City Co-Op 🥕👩🏽‍🌾🍎 is also accepting monetary donations to feed our community fresh, locally grown food. We would love to stock local food pantries and refrigerators with food grown by our local farmers.

It’s Labor Day, the unofficial end to summer (and those 100 degree days, we hope)!
Today we honor our farmers and the hard work that they do. To eat the sustainably raised fruits and veggies we are so lucky to have, we need to consistently be able support them!
With collard greens, squash, corn, tomatoes and more, it is the perfect culmination of the hot summer season.

Our small weekly farm share is fit for a family of 2-3. We also offer medium and large shares with mix and match options available for every size!

Make sure to place your order in by Monday for next week’s share, and your Wednesday can look like this basket of season goodies!
