Dear Meijer Corporate Leadership,
You have failed your Team Members and Customers at the Meijer in Howell. Our Local Management here at the Meijer in Howell has been completely ineffective in convincing Meijer Corporate Leadership that either New Shopping Carts are needed or getting the current Shopping Carts Repaired. Our Local Management here at the Meijer in Howell, was under the impression that New Shopping Carts were to be delivered after the recent Store Revamp, but then was told that the Manufacturer Could Not Deliver. Also, a company did come out to repair about 6 Shopping Carts but could not repair any further Shopping Carts without first ordering replacement parts. It is Our Local Management understanding, that Meijer Corporate Leadership denied the request for any replacement parts for our current inventory of Shopping Carts. We currently have 143 Shopping Carts in our Shopping Cart Graveyard and weekly we are adding more to that number.
It is an ongoing struggle to keep Shopping Carts in the two inside bays, with many Customers returning to the Parking Lot to retrieve an Empty Shopping Cart and as well some Customers find themselves pushing a half dozen to a dozen Empty Shopping Carts into the two Shopping Cart Bays themselves, because they see nobody from Meijer outside collecting Shopping Carts, during these times. Our Team Member Greeters hear the angst from our Customers daily, with “Again No Shopping Carts Available” in the two inside Shopping Cart bays. At any given time, there can be 50 to 100 Shopping Carts out in the Parking Lot and the remaining inside being used in the Store by both Customers and Team Members. Additionally, many more Customers are demanding to use the Smaller two bin Shopping Carts over the Larger one bin Shopping Carts, but we have never had a large inventory of the Smaller two bin Shopping Carts, that’s why we have one row in each Shopping Cart bays for the Smaller two bin Shopping Carts. Basically, of the two Shopping Carts, it’s the Smaller two bin Shopping Carts that always gets wiped-out first.
Of our two closest Meijer Stores in Brighton and Hartland, they don’t appear to have any shortages of Shopping Carts. In fact, Brighton does have a small number of Shopping Carts in their Shopping Cart Graveyard, but they do have a Large Supply of usable Shopping Carts, with the abundance just sitting under the Store’s Big Front Windows.
Meijer Corporate Leadership, Please Do Better.
Sincerely, Team Member/Customer
