How much did you pay for medical and dental last year? I really want to know.

“I work for insurance.” I hear it from moms all the time — women barely breaking even just to keep their families covered.

Medishare used to be amazing for us. But like so many plans, the coverage has gone down.

Here’s our year:
• $12,000 in annual premiums
• $3,000 household portion (our deductible)
• $6,500 in medical — $5,500 midwife and home birth, $600 circumcision, $400 medications and office visits

• $5,150 in dental — $1,200 for me, $1,200 for Charlie, $650 for Harper’s lip tie, $1,100 for Sadie’s lip tie, $1,000 for Nash’s lip & tongue tie. Cavities, X-rays, cleanings, all necessary. Nash was having awful reflux issues, and couldn’t take a bottle, Harper was mouth breathing and had a huge gap between her teeth that would have led to braces. Sadie had a huge gap in her teeth, and was also mouth breathing at night. It needed done before cavities started.

Being a farmer and self-employed is an uphill battle, and the cost of care keeps climbing. I’m beyond thankful for our nurse practitioner in town — without her, our out-of-pocket would be even higher.

You can only squeeze so much juice out of a lemon before it runs dry.

I took a job that fulfills me in every way — but the number one reason was the insurance. As our farm grows, my role here will grow too. But it’ll be on top of working for insurance again.

They base their “coverage” on Medicare estimates. They told me an ultrasound should cost $200. Try $1,200. We should have gotten back atleast $3,500 this year. We got $497.

So thankful for this community ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has fed cattle with our family, purchased our beef and tallow, bought the corn we grew, and trusted us to help with your holiday meals and gatherings. Your support truly means everything.

If you’re new here—we sell beef directly to families across the U.S., background cattle for farmers, and work with investors to source, feed, and sell cattle. Diversifying our income has been essential for us as a first-generation farming family.

We both work off-farm jobs, but the businesses we’ve built are the heart of our livelihood. Every order, every steer fed, every ounce of trust placed in us supports our family directly—and we’re beyond grateful.

Thank you for choosing our family. We couldn’t do this without you ❤️🇺🇸🐂

Some months just hit harder than others.

Between preparing for baby number three (36 weeks and counting), my sister’s wedding, a packed work schedule, half our family on vacation while the other half battled the flu, getting beef back from the butcher, and making the final payment on our new walk-in freezer… this month has been a lot.

This week and next, I’m very much in survival mode.
Harper and I spent most of this week home on the couch, not leaving much at all—and honestly, it was rough. Meanwhile, Charlie and Sadie were off skiing, and while part of me wished Harper and I could’ve enjoyed our time together in a different way, I’m so thankful Sadie got that special one-on-one time with her dad and made memories she’ll never forget.

Even in the exhaustion, I’m grateful. Grateful for slow moments, for healing, for family, and for the progress we’re making behind the scenes.

✨ A beef restock is coming online.
Please be patient with me as I get everyone healthy, rested, and caught back up.

Thank you for supporting our farm—not just when things are polished and perfect, but in the real, messy, beautiful middle, too. 🤍

Third trimester means I’m learning to slow down just a bit this time around… but thankfully, Charlie has hired on some very eager new ranch hands. 🤍🤠

Being first-generation producers has meant getting creative, staying scrappy, and learning how to truly work as a team—first as a couple, and now as a family. It hasn’t been easy. There have been long days, hard seasons, and plenty of moments that stretched us beyond what felt comfortable.

But through it all, it’s strengthened our marriage, deepened our faith, and shaped the kind of family we’re building—one where our kids learn responsibility, grit, and joy right alongside us.

I wouldn’t trade this life, or this season, for the world.

✨🎄 Slowing Down for a 90’s-Style Christmas 🎄✨
This year we put our tree up early—because I’ve been craving a December that feels like the 90’s again… slower, sweeter, full of real traditions and Christ-centered moments.

We’re starting a new one with the girls: a farm-themed Advent calendar paired with simple daily scripture time. I didn’t want candy or clutter—just a gift that lasts.
We chose the Agzaga farm toy advent calendar, and the girls are already excited. Their Agzaga toys go everywhere—out to the feed yard on weekends and straight into the living room “chore time.” They’re durable, wholesome, and the kind of toys you actually keep.

Our December rhythm:
🎄 Christmas PJs on the 1st
📖 Scripture each day
🐄 A new farm piece for their set
Here’s to slowing down, creating traditions that matter, and savoring a faith-filled December on the farm. ❤️🐄

✨🎄Creating Traditions That Last a Lifetime ✨

This year I’ve felt a tug on my heart to slow down—to really soak in the little moments leading up to Christmas. Maybe it’s the season we’re in, maybe it’s watching the girls grow faster than I can process… but I’ve been craving traditions that matter. Traditions my kids will look back on someday and want to carry on with their own families.

We even put our Christmas tree up early this year. Not because we were in a hurry, but because we wanted to enjoy December—every slow morning, every cozy evening, and the simple, Christ-centered joy this season brings.
So this December, we’re adding something new: an advent calendar paired with simple, meaningful Bible time each day. I didn’t want more junk or candy… I wanted something that felt like a gift. Something the girls could keep long after the tree is taken down.

This year we’re doing the Agzaga farm toy advent calendar, and I’m honestly so excited for it. Each day the girls will open a new little farm piece to add to their barn set—something that fits right into the life we live and love. Their Agzaga toys are the perfect mix of durable and wholesome. These aren’t toys that break or get tossed aside… they’re the ones that last, the ones you find your kids still playing with years from now.

I can already see it:
🎄 December 1st we’ll bring out the Christmas PJs
📖 We’ll read our daily scripture
🐄 And then the girls will open the next surprise for their farm set.

If you know my girls, you know those Agzaga farm animals go everywhere. They take them to the feed yard on weekends, set them up in the living room as if they’re helping with chores, and when friends come over—those are the toys they proudly drag out first.

I love that this advent calendar will add pieces they’ll use again and again, not just for a few weeks of excitement. Quality toys that become part of their memories… honestly, that’s the sweetest gift I could ask for.

Here’s to slowing down, savoring December, and building family traditions rooted in faith and farm life. ❤️🐄

🐂 Covey Rise Farms Update

We wanted to take a moment to share where things stand on the farm. Right now, we’re in a bit of a holding pattern as we wait for our next beef processing slots to open up. We’re expecting January slots for February beef, so hang tight — your favorite cuts will be back before long!

Our farm shop facelift is still ongoing and moving slow for now since finding out we’re expecting our third little one 💛. We plan to pick things back up this winter once things slow down for Charlie (and before baby makes their debut!).

We’re also waiting on delivery of our new walk-in freezer, which has also delayed our shop progress. This new freezer will allow us to add back in pork and chicken products to the lineup. We’re so excited to be partnering with some incredible farms to bring even more to your table sometime next year— we’re just waiting on the final green light from the organization before we can move forward with those purchases.

2026 is shaping up to be a bright and busy year for Covey Rise Farms, and we’re so thankful for your continued support. Thank you for showing us grace and patience as we grow — both our family and our farm. ❤️
