Did you know you can get local salt?

That is right! According to J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works website, they are a 7th generation salt-making family that harvests all-natural salt by hand. This salt comes from an ancient ocean trapped below the Appalachian Mountains of the Kanawha Valley in West Virginia. They are less than an hour's drive away from Huntington, so be sure to pay them a visit sometime!

We have many options available for purchase at The Wild Ramp including their "Ramp Salt" which is an all natural finishing salt made with dried ramps, which are a wild leek with flavors similar to a garlicky onion. Come on down to see us and try it out!

Ramps so clean they are ready to fry! 👨‍🍳

We have a steady supply of beautiful ramps that are already cleaned and ready to go. Stop by and claim some before the season is over!

Options are also available for you to clean yourself at a lower price. Both options are currently available in 1/2 lb and 1 lb bags 🌱

Our annual ramp festival Stinkfest 2026 is also 1 week away. This event is set for Saturday April 25th from 11am-4pm. Come out and join us for all the fun and support your local producers!

What even is a Ramp?

Y'all may hear us throw the word "Wild Ramp" around a lot, but what is it? It is the reason for our markets name as well as for our annual Stinkfest 2026 . In short, ramps are a wild mountain leek with a strong, garlicky flavor that shows up for just a few short weeks each year. So, grab them while you can!

Beyond that short description of what a ramp is, they have a long history in our region. For the longer run down on the plant and its history, I will point you all to start on page 29 of the book, "The Forest Farmers Handbook".
