Scheduled pop up ❤️ details below.

Thank you all so much for your support these last few days. The community support has been overwhelming, and we know we have the power to make a change as a collective people 💪🏻 if you would like to sign our petition and have not yet- please click this link! https://c.org/srFsmhC9JP

We were recently directed to a new Idaho State Law #1283 (passed March 20, 2026) called the Direct to Consumer Commerce Act. This law specifically defines farmstands and outlines a guideline for direct to informed consumer sales in the state of Idaho to encourage economic growth within our state.

We feel this law protects us. It appears that someone has fought our battle recently, and won.

We’ve submitted this legislature to our zoning office. The problem with laws is they can be interpreted in a matter of ways. That’s why we have a court system. I feel like this law is so clear cut, and the clear intention of our great state is to encourage farmers, producers, and cottage food makers to connect with their consumers. We’re waiting for a response from our local authorities.

Our intention in complying, while we feel this situation has been unjust, was to create a peaceful precedent to change laws in our county to better serve our small business owners and their customers.

Research into how we can make this happen has been all consuming of our days. And I can not wait to get back to the sweet peace of baking bread ❤️

Regardless of our answers this week, we will be baking for Saturday ❤️ please follow along while we determine if we can be open from our home, or if we’ll be at a pop up location. We’ve had multiple amazing small business owners reach out to us about utilizing their parking lots to pop up our farmstand ❤️❤️ shoutout to Josh Cross and Caroline Daugherty at the Rockin Cross Country Store and Ryan Joos at our N 25th street Fixxology for being absolutely amazing local small business supporters ❤️❤️ both heard of our issues and immediately offered a helping hand.

We have been invited to use the parking lot at Fixxology, which we feel could most conveniently serve our customers for the time being, since it is only 1 mile away from our home, right next to the highway 20 exit.

This weekend we will plan to accept preorders, as well as planning a surplus of extra items for people to just stop by (wherever we end up). Please send me a message to be added to a preorder list for Saturday ❤️ if we don’t sort out our reopening here at our home shortly, do not fret! We will plan pop ups regularly until we can figure it all out!

On this weekend’s bake plans we have:

Sourdough bread - classic, jalapeño, and everything seasoning
Milk rolls
Chocolate chip cookies
Oatmeal cream pie cookie sandwiches
Lemon poppyseed muffins
Apple crumble muffins
Peanut butter bars
Chocolate fudgey brownies
Pumpkin chocolate chip bread
Granolas
We will plan to stock as many of our normal items as we can possibly bring- jams/jellies, eggs, pancake, chai, and herb mixes, lollipops, and FD candies.

This is a completely new avenue for us to prepare a single bake day, with the potential of also hauling it all to a separate location. Our weekly baking on the farmstand is around 120 loaves of sourdough, hundreds of muffins, cookies, and bars, and more. Scheduling this bake day will take careful planning as you all KNOW I’m a fruitcake for FRESH FRESH FRESH, as fresh as baked items can possibly be ❤️ please bear with us as we navigate this weekend’s bake schedule and respond to what I’m positive will be another flood of messages. I love you all and will take the time to answer any questions, it might just take me a while to get to them ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you again, I’m so looking forward to connecting with you all. Our farmstand can be a faceless endeavor since it allows me to be employed but then walk away and spend my days with my small children. I love meeting you all at the farmstand when I can and I’m excited for an opportunity to put all your lovely faces to your names ❤️

Thank you for your support! We love this community! ❤️🐷❤️

Update to this post: online petition

https://c.org/srFsmhC9JP

PLEASE NOTE: Change.org requests donations after you sign the petition. While I think it’s great this platform receives donations because it’s a free service for us, it is NOT a crowd-funding campaign and these funds do not support us directly. We have friends donating larger quantities believing it’s benefiting us- it it NOT. PLEASE donate as you feel fit to the website!

***Please read through- as information we had last week about relocating to the garage is now being removed as an option for us ****

Guys, it’s time to raise your pitchforks now. In the form of pens 😅

Most of you have followed our previous post that the farmstand was reported to zoning.

Last week we spoke over the phone with the zoning office, and had hope that while they were not allowing us to operate out of a roadside stand, that we could still bake and have pickups based from our garage or home.

This week, that changed. And I’m not really sure I understand why. We were also told last week that in different zones (like Ag), people are allowed to have separate buildings for sales operations. We’re being told now that the only items permitted to be sold from homes in Bonneville county agricultural zones are flowers, produce, and hay. No one is allowed to sell cottage foods from their home.

Is this right? We don’t know. There’s cottage food laws stating otherwise. Zoning is claiming local authority above that. We would likely need a lawyer to sort this out (we have and others close to us have been in contact with some).

The future of our beloved local farmstands are at risk. We need your help! Please help by signing the petition so we can move forward to amend the zoning text to allow for small local business to operate from their location.

This, unfortunately, is a slow process. It’s taken 3-5 days for me to hear back from the zoning office, and in order to petition, we must submit an application for the next hearing date at the end of July.

It’s with great heartbreak to share that our final word between zoning yesterday, told us we are not permitted to operate from the stand (or garage) anymore. 💔💔

Today, Saturday, May 23rd, will be our last day open on the farmstand. 💔

We are not being permitted to participate in our scheduled farmstand tour day 💔

Sourdough is a 24 hour process. So by the time we got final work yesterday, bread was already going. We have stocked the stand today and will not be stocking it again for the foreseeable future.

We WILL NOT GIVE UP and I am permitted to continue baking- I’m just now allowed to sell my baked goods here from our home 🤯

This has been devastating for our family as the farmstand is our livelihood. We need a few days to process how to move forward. Options for the future COULD be, delivery, drop/meet spots around town, or becoming different weekly market vendors. We have reached out to the Idaho Falls Farmers market to inquire about vendor booth space availability.

Please stay tuned, I will continue working on coming up with a solution.

For the last time (for now 💔)

***************

We have an important Farmstand update: please calm your pitchforks while we take in all this information 😅❤️

Last week, someone reported our Farmstand to zoning. Unbeknownst to us, after 2 years of being open, we’ve been informed that road stands are not permitted in this residential zoning area. When we planned to open, we were in touch with EIPH in regard to cottage food laws and checking if permits were required. We never heard anything about zoning regulations until last week.

WE WILL NOT BE SHUTTING DOWN THE FARMSTAND. keep reading 😆

The gal in the zoning office was VERY kind, so sweet and a huge advocate for supporting local small businesses. We had no idea, obviously, that there were regulations on the location of these stands in the county. Our town is booming with them. My parents have owned this house for 25 years, and over the years many new neighborhoods have been built around us and our zone has become RA (residential agricultural). There is a line in this zoning rules list indicating home business must opperate “within the dwelling.” We are permitted to run a business out of our home, as long as it’s all contained inside the home… in RA. Ag zones are allowed to have “separate buildings”

So, we have begun working on complying with these regulations, and the farmstand will be moving from its comfy spot under the tree to inside our garage.

I wanted this to have time to spread before the farmstand “disappeared” from the roadside and caused a panic. 😅 Nobody panic. I will continue my daily baking.

What YOU can do:

1. Don’t start a riot 🤣 in the few people I’ve told so far, I’ve had tremendous support on how we can sort this out. You all are amazing, and while I don’t entirely agree with the regulations, I understand they’re in place for a reason. No need to attack the zoning office, they’re super kind people who are upholding the list of rules they didn’t create.

2. Practice roadside safety! This is always something that we should be mindful of- please pull your vehicle entirely off the roadway when shopping. Utilize the farmstand parking spot right in front of the stand, pull all the way into the driveway, or if you’re uncomfortable with backing into roadway, pull entirely off the road on the opposite side of the street. I originally thought this report maybe came from a roadside safety concern, but it sounds like it didn’t. I just want you all to be safe!

3. Keep in touch for updates! While we will be complying to these rules for now and moving the stand, I think we would like to petition to amend the text in the future to protect other roadside stands in our area. We LOVE to support local and we want other local businesses to be safe and successful ❤️

4. If you have a roadside stand and are concerned, please feel free to reach out for the information I’ve gather from zoning this week to see what your next steps are.

Thank you all so much for your support. We love being our community hub and will continue to do so ❤️🐷❤️

Oatmeal cream pie cookie sandwiches

Chocolate chip cookies

Chai mix is back in stock

Lollipop flavors are:
Green apple
Pineapple
Watermelon
Strawberry
Blueberry
Peach

We’re down to just peach jelly again- and it’s almost out!! Since we can with local produce, we will not have peach again until fall when the local Idaho peaches are ripe 🍑

Today, I’ll be working on canning again with our spring produce! (Strawberry and rhubarb)

Last year we offered more than 20 kinds of jam through the year as fresh local produce became available ❤️🍒🍓🍑🫐 we can so much that you’ll frequently catch me setting up an outdoor kitchen to run extra pots of boiling water ❤️ I’m so excited to have our shelves overflowing with jams again! Bring on the fruit!

Just had to share our hilarious picture of our laced polish hen, Cookies&Cream (some names around here are just ridiculous, thanks to the kids) everytime I’m carrying her around I just wonder… how does something like this stay alive without being able to see? I always hear polish flocks share one collective brain cell 🤣

Thanks for stopping by! ❤️🐷❤️
