It’s a HOT week out here! We’ve got to do our best to get protect the crops we will be counting on in the fall. Shade cloth and frequent sprinkler irrigation to cool down these lettuces and onions is the best we can do while we wait for the heat of summer to relent.

Summer CSA membership is sold out. You can sign up now for the winter CSA which begins the end of October.

Aren’t they pretty! Picking well over 1,000 lbs per week for our CSA members. We have enough to offer bulk boxes at market. Come see us at the Overland Park Farmers Market Saturday morning and grab some!

If you’ve wondered what our CSA is about, it’s about our members receiving a weekly box of Custom-packed, home-grown garden vegetables like this.

A lot of work goes into growing these beautiful vegetables according to nature’s ways before we finally custom-pack each box based upon each member’s selection.

That’s not sweet corn. It’s not even edible. It’s a cover crop mix including sorghum Sudan grass that we’ve planted to build up organic matter in a new future veggie plot. We don’t just enjoy growing veggies. We love growing all kinds of things in order to build healthy soil on our property. Next year’s tomatoes will thank us.

Have you ever eaten truly fresh produce? It tastes way better, doesn’t it? If you have a home garden or you are one of our CSA members you know what a truly fresh carrot tastes like.

Ezra was especially proud of this find today. And if he didn’t eat it out there in the field, that carrot will end up in one of his CSA boxes this week.

Look what we’ve got here! Get ready ya’ll.

We have a few thousand beautiful tomato plants at various stages of development. The first round will be ready to pick for next week’s CSA.

Now don’t get too excited. It will be a couple weeks before we are swimming in them and then we’ll be ready for market sales and bulk boxes.

Farming involves blood, sweat and tears. Got stung by a bumblebee while hanging garlic in the barn and swelled up more than ever before. I’ve decided to discontinue that project since I can’t use my hand right now and will do some computer work in the AC, but can’t type very well without my left hand. Oh well…
