A few weeks ago, Collin and I went down to give the bottle babies their 10:30 PM feeding and found that Charolette gave birth and found her baby barely moving/breathing and very, very cold. We brought the baby in, gave him a warm bath to get his temperature up, and we then gave him a bottle. He was still shivering so I put the hair dryer on him and that helped a little, but was still cold. At this point it was almost midnight on a weekday and I said, he’s sleeping in bed with us. 🤣🙃

He made it through the night and is now the cuddliest, sweetest boy!!

Meet Champ aka Champers. 💙 - little cool fact he was born on our very good friend Sto’s birthday (who is deeply missed) who at one point in time worked at Champs in Altoona. ⚡️

Also, this sweet boy is up for grabs! Let us know if you would be interested!

Two more baby boys made their appearance on the homestead last evening! We had taken the other babies out for some fresh air and to play. When going to check on them, I noticed our Thelma girl starting to bed where she gave birth last time and within minutes the first baby was here! Momma and the babies are doing great! Both were able to stay outside with mom!

They do not have names as of yet, but they do already have a home waiting for them!!💙💙

This past week has been a whirlwind of emotions. Last Friday we unfortunately lost our Daisy (one of our first goats) and her baby. We were so heartbroken and I really thought maybe I wasn’t cut out or couldn’t do this.

But then… yesterday and today, out of no where, we had two more baby boys born!!! Louise gave birth to Finn yesterday and Norma gave birth to a beautiful baby boy today!! We are trying to come up with a good name for him! We are open to suggestions!! I also really want to keep him, but Collin told me I have to pay him what we would receive if we were to sell him. 😅.

Felix and Finn are already spoken for and will have a great home to go to when they are ready!!

Drop some names for this sweet boy below!! 💙💙

Meet Felix and Fern!! 💙💕

Our Dixie girl had two beautiful babies today and did so good during the cold and without any help! Mama is doing great, but did not want to nurse her sweet babies, however did let Collin milk her. Last year around this time Dixie miscarried two babies and we think she was unsure of what to do, due to not having to care for babies the first time she gave birth.

Due to cold temps and mama not wanting to feed them, we decided to bring them inside and bottle feed them! Be prepared for many more videos of having indoor goats for the first time! We have 6 more mamas that will be kidding in the upcoming months!

We haven’t posted much lately due to just busy schedules and losing two sweet babies after their mom passed away, which hit us hard, as we love our animals so much.

We said we were going to sell all the babies this year, however I was able to talk my way into keeping Fern.

Felix will be up for grabs in the near future! Let us know if you would be interested!

Meet Homer!!

He is such a gentle soul and a lover!! If we could bring him Inside we would. He is so smart, fun, and the sweetest! If you scratch for long enough behind his ear, he will lie down and demand belly rubs! His little pig noises when he snuggles is the cutest!

He loves to escape and root through the yard, but as soon as you call his name he starts running. He is the largest of our pigs but the friendliest!

I’m not going to lie, I was super nervous to bring on pigs to the homestead, but can’t imagine us without them! They are super easy to care for, have such fun personalities and our great company! 💕🐷

It’s been a little while since we made a post! Recent times have been a little hectic and crazy here at the homestead. One of the reasons being Miss Thelma! Oh, Thelma. She is definitely our problem child when it comes to falling ill and causing us to worry ourselves sick. However, is the strongest and fought so hard to stick around for her baby! She recently had goat polio which can be deathly, however we caught it early enough that she pulled through!

We were dedicated to making sure she received her injections every 6 hours for 7 days to weaning her off. Due to becoming ill, she now has a cute little tilt to her head (Rachel believes it caused her to become blind in one eye). In the midst of helping her recover and heal, we also unfortunately lost our two baby peacocks to an animal in the middle of the night. Our hearts were broken and are planning to try and rehatch a couple more. Losing the peacocks or any animal you are raising is unfortunately the con of creating a homestead.

When we first brought Thelma home, she was very skiddish and really didn’t want to come near anyone. She then became pregnant and her whole personality changed. (Fun fact: This is a telling sign of when a goat becomes pregnant). She loved being pet and having the attention. She then gave birth to our first baby, Beau. Thelma is a wonderful mother and does not like when Beau is not near. After giving birth she went back to her old ways of straying away from people, UNTIL the first time she became ill and Rachel had to carry her to the car to see the vet. After she knew we were going to take good care of her and do everything we could to help her, she became one of our friendliest goats and is the first one to greet you when coming into the pen. 💕 She is caring, giving, sweet, protective, and such a fighter!

Yall!!! We hatched baby peacocks!!

Back story:

Ella and Cohen earned $20 each while back at camp Memorial Day weekend by crossing the river and jumping in the pond. On an Indiana farm swap Sunday, Collin thought it would be a good idea to give them their $20. Ella at first wanted a bunny but Daddy said no. We then came across someone selling peacocks and eggs. Our impulsive little girl immediately wanted to buy peacock eggs to hatch. At $10 an egg and the woman telling me they are really hard to hatch, I was a little skeptical. I told Ella that if she buys them they may not hatch and made sure this was what she wanted to spend her money on.

Nothing was changing her mind, so that day we came home with 2 peacock eggs. This momma went straight into researching how to hatch peacock eggs and hoping for the best. I was completely shocked when both eggs hatched!!

Ella has named them Bell and Blue and said that when she has her own home they are coming with her! 🤣 Peacocks do not start to get their color until about a year old!

We are so excited to continue to update you on their life here at the homestead!

Our Sweet and Sassy Harriet! 🐽

A girl who holds her own! When we first brought this sweet Kune Kune girl home, she was such a chunky little thing — but also the quietest pig you could imagine. She stayed inside the house for a few days, but that didn’t last long. After getting a little too comfortable with her indoor freedom, she decided she wasn’t a fan of bedtime in the large playpen and ended up putting a hole right through the netting!

At first, she was still a bit too small to be with our male pigs. Once she grew a little, we moved her in with them, and — like typical boys — they gave her a hard time at first, making sure she knew who was in charge. But within a few days, she won them over completely. Now, you’ll often catch them all sunbathing together out in the yard, side by side.

She’s always the first to announce when it’s breakfast and dinner time and is quickly catching up to, and will likely surpass, the boys in size. We’re hoping that one day she and the boys will bless us with a litter of adorable piglets to share with you all!
