Market Match is a simple and successful program that makes fresh produce affordable for CalFresh (SNAP) shoppers.
When shoppers spend their CalFresh benefits in a farmers’ market,* they get a dollar-for-dollar match, which can ONLY be spent on fresh fruits and vegetables.
$15 becomes $30 for families in need and the sale goes to small local farmers.
Despite the program’s success, Market Match was not included in the governor’s proposed FY2026-2027 budget. As it currently stands, funding will run out in early 2027.
But OUR VOICES ARE POWERFUL! State legislature representatives listen to their constituents! Market Match funding was nearly cut in 2025, but market shoppers spoke up and the program was funded in full! DONT SLEEP ON THIS!
