Lively Run Goat Dairy is one of the longest operating commercial goat dairies in the country, beginning production in New York State in 1982 and pioneering goat cheese in the American marketplace. The Messmer family took over operations of Lively Run in 1995, after Steve was discharged from military service and brought his family back from Europe in the early 1990s. The entire Messmer family works

to continue the mission of bringing to the Finger Lakes region healthy, sustainable and delicious goat cheese reminiscent of the cheese they enjoyed while living in Germany and France. Lively Run Goat Dairy is an associate member of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail and an AgriTourism & Education Stop. Come and see our mischievous goat kids each spring. Come and see where fine award winning Finger Lakes cheese begins. We are open for tastings , goat yoga and barn visits May 1st through the end of October. Our hours are Wednesday- Sunday 12pm to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m . Cheese tastings include 10 cheeses with locally produced condiments.
