To this date, we still do not have enough vendors to warrent opening the ESFM this season!

I sent out a mass mailing asking vendors to sign up not later than May 20, if they planned to participate. If we do not get enougn vendors signing up by that date, we will not open the market this season. I will provide an update after May 20.

Hi Everybody,

Finally we are revving up for the 2nd season of the farmers' market on the east side of Iowa City. I will send out more information next week. I just want you to know that we are planning to give it another try!

Community members, are you ready to come out to support your local vendors of fresh produce, arts, crafts, etc? And producers are you ready to bring out great items to share with east side and other community members?

We welcome any ideas or feed back you may have.

Thank you, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Ethel

Due to current and predicted weather conditions, and the early frost wiping out many produce crops, the ESFM will close early this year. We were scheduled to run until the end of this month, but it is not working out that way. We will shut down as of 10/7, and will restart early next May. I will keep all informed. In the meantime if you have suggestions, questions or want to meet with us a few times to help plan and organize for next year, please let me know.

Thanks for all of your support in our first endeavor, and we look forward to hearing from and/or seeing you in the near future!

Remember the ESFM is open tomorrow from 10am - 2pm. I was just informed that kolaches are being prepared right now for the market tomorrow. If you haven't tried them, you don't know what you are missing. In addition to the produce you have been getting, we will have honey dew melons, watermelons, and cantaloupe. The arts and crafts continue to expand. Come out and join us. The weather is going to be great for a change.

Just a reminder! Some of you came out last Sunday after the Sweet Corn and Tomatoes were sold out. We will have an additional farmer tomorrow who will also have Tomatoes, Melons, and Sweet Corn in addition to other fresh produce. And as always, you will find your favorite baked goods, art, crafts and more.

The weather will be much better than the past few weeks, so come out, bring the kids and enjoy the outside, while exploring all of the local goods that are prepared for you. If you have outside games such as volleyball, bad-mitten, kites, etc, feel free to bring them and use the wide open space for some family fun.

The Sweet Corn and Melons were a big hit at the market last Sunday. There will be more of those in addition to other fresh produce, baked goods, art, crafts and BBQ by L & J. Come and check us out; we are open from 10 -2 every Sunday. We have canceled Fridays until the weather cools down a bit.

07/06/2012

Please note: Due to extreme heat at the time we meet on Fridays, we are canceling the Friday market until further notice.

Also remember that Iowa vegetables, and SWEET CORN, are ready! And the BBQ House will be back at the market starting this Sunday offering pulled pork and beef, brats and hot dogs! In addition JAMES KENNEDY will offer folk music from 11:30 to 1:30.

Come on out and listen to James, have a BBQ sandwich while choosing your fresh Iowa grown produce, homemade baked goods and crafts.
