Everybody knows Seaside and LBI, but just across the water sits one of the shore's best-kept secrets. 🌅 Island Heights is a tiny Victorian village perched on a bluff over the Toms River, all gingerbread porches, sailboats, and a wooden boardwalk that hugs the water instead of the ocean.

There is no roaring midway here, no game barkers, no crowds shoulder to shoulder. Just a quiet, artsy little town that has looked more or less the same for well over a century. It started as a Methodist camp meeting retreat, and that peaceful spirit never really left. ⛵

This is the shore your grandparents might have loved, the kind of place where you slow down, watch the sailboats catch the evening light, and remember that the Jersey Shore is so much bigger than its boardwalks.
