Eggs are very limited this year but will be out at the farmstand tomorrow!
$6/dozen

We welcomed 6 new teenie tiny ladies to the farm yesterday. 3 Amerucanas and 3 Gold Laced Wynedottes. They won't be laying for 5-6 months but it will be well worth the wait.
Until then, lots of snuggles and yes chicken kisses.

The big girls are in full swing laying everyday. We only have 7 layers at this time. Due to other life events we haven't been able add more to the flock.

Welcome fluffy butt nuggets!

Good Friday evening,
It's been a long tough winter. I lost a lot of my girls due to predators issues and couldn't do much with the ground being frozen. Everything I tried was temporary. So being down to 3 layers eggs are not of abundance but we do have some. Sadly they won't be same day fresh. It's now taking 4 days to get 1 dozen eggs. So doing the math.... not much. We started a stock pile for ourselves so we can hopefully offer some to our regulars until we get more chickens.
Now for the good news. I'm on a wait list for some pretty rad colored hatching eggs. Those won't be available until July. And they cost a pretty penny. I will be hatching them in an incubator so the girls can continue to lay and not go broody sitting on eggs all summer.
I also just bought this beautiful surprise rainbow dozen. I can't wait to see what the chicks look like. I hope I get a few roosters but I definitely need hens! These eggs are going in the incubator next week. They arrive Monday. I AM SO EXCITED AND NERVOUS. I've never watched eggs from an incubator. My girls were always mama hens.
That gray ๐Ÿซ
That purple ๐Ÿ˜
That bright blue ๐Ÿคฉ
I won't be needing to dye Easter eggs with this bunch!
So next year we will be in full swing if everything goes according to plan a and b.

Hello to our followers and many that support our tiny farmstand.
It is with great sadness I have to share the farmstand will not be open this year. We have lost all but 6 of our hens. In 3 years we went from 52 (including chicks) to 27 last year and since this past fall we have lost 20 chickens. Earlier this week we lost 1 of our 2 oldest girls All due to predators. I had to stop free ranging them, I've put up safe but nuisance deterants, fencing, built 2 run additions and only let them out into the yard when someone is out with them. Our latest predator was a bald eagle that took Cruella, my last surviving mama hen.
Then the wind storm destroyed the addition so now the run is wide open to predators and needs a complete overhaul now.
So, with this being said I will not be getting additional chicks until I have the side yard completely fenced in including overhead, new addition and possibly moving the coop.
For those that have been loyal customers for ma years years please reach out to me here or stop by so I can setup a schedule for you to continue getting eggs from us come springtime. I do not use artificial lighting to encourage the girls to lay over the winter. It's not natural for them and it exhurts more energy when their bodies need a break. They do still lay during the winter but not as often. We are thankful and grateful for what they provide us. We are thankful for years of supporting what started out as a little cooler filled with eggs on the side of the road to my oldest son wanting to be a chicken farmer at 2 years old. Now at almost 5, he still helps and adores his cocoas (he now calls them chickens and by their names).
So this year we will be offering scheduled pick ups only for long term customers. We only have 2 weekly and 1 every other week or 1 monthly spot available.
We hope to reopen next year and have more to offer on a regualr basis. This year will be our trial and error, project and recoup our losses year to start again in the future.
Thank you all for your support. We love you all!
