so often in my life people have assumed that if I (as the female Foggy Hill Farmer) am a farmer, I must be a flower farmer. No, I say, I am a boots on the ground, hands in the dirt vegetable farmer. Oh, they say, you must be an herb farmer.

Have you ever wondered how much water snow holds? We packed this drum with snow, covered it with a lid (to prevent evaporation), and you can see how much water is in the barrel as the snow melts down.

"Fire in the hole!"
Today Will, Sasha and I took out the old Hatfield transplanter and used it to transplant eggplant seedlings. Every time someone dropped a seedling in the tube, Will would say "Fire in the hole!"
We have a lot of fun working together, but make no mistake, we get a lot of work done, too! This morning alone we weeded walkways, planted carrots and transplanted eggplant seedlings. I have a great crew of Perfect Peace workers!

We are so thrilled to share that we are a 2024 Energy Stipend Grant for Specialty Crop Producers Award Recipient!
Through the County Conservation District's program, we will be improving the energy efficiency of my farm operation! This opportunity is made possible through the USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant Program from the New Hampshire Department of NH Dept. of Agriculture, Markets & Foodiculture, Markets & Food.
USDA is an equal opportunity employer, provider, and lender. A second grant round opportunity will be made available soon, learn more at: www.cheshireconservation.org/energy

We love our Northeast seed houses! We source our seeds from Fruition Seeds, Johnny's Selected Seeds, and High Mowing Organic Seeds. I feel these companies offer varieties that can thrive in our crazy New England weather - offering varieties that treat our eyes with their beauty and treat our tummies with their delicious quality.

I am particularly excited to try this new-to-us cabbage, Mermaid's Tale from Fruition Seeds. (photo from Fruition Seeds)
