🎉The doors are up and the end walls are in on our high tunnel 🌱
Now comes the next big step — breaking up soil that’s never been grown in before. This ground was deeply compacted with prairie grass and rocks, so we brought in the tiller and broad fork to start the process.
After the first pass, it’s clear this soil needs some serious amendments. Stay tuned as we work on conditioning it and getting it ready to grow.

Some projects take an afternoon…
and some take months 😅🌱

Here’s a little clip from our high tunnel build journey at Hungry Bunny Farms. This was one of the many steps along the way—getting the arches connected and everything tightened up for stability.
We’ve been building it slowly in between work, life, and everything else that comes with farming, but it’s been so rewarding to see it come together.

BLACK GOLD!! 👩‍🌾

GARDENING GOLD!? 🏅It's all about decomposition! Microscopic munchers (bacteria and fungi) are the true heroes, 🦠 breaking down those green blades into nutrient-rich compost. YOU CAN SEE IT BREAKING DOWN WITH ALL THAT STEAM!! This "black gold" will supercharge your garden soil. So, don't trash your clippings—transform them! 😉

HOT TIP: These particular clippings came from a yard where the grass was too tall to leave the clippings on the lawn (smothers the lawn like leaving out a tarp). So we bagged it and brought it home for composting. Otherwise, IT IS BEST practice to leave the shorter clippings on the lawn for a natural fertilizer that's better than anything at the store.

Clearing land for the BIG High Tunnel coming in a month!! So excited...all happening too fast and at a snails pace at the same time!! 😳🥰

We've been so busy with life and plans that we've neglected our Fall Garden and are only producing a small amount to keep us in veggies with nothing extra unfortunately. BUT better laid planting schedules and a lot more space is on the horizon!!! CHEERS TO GETTING BETTER ONE DAY AT A TIME! 😄

We've got BIG plans and a bigger hoop house going up.🫛🍅 It's 44x10...so not a monster but it'll give us some good practice for the big kahuna coming in Late Winter. WE GOT APPROVED for the NRCS High Tunnel Grant and we've got to get the ground prepared. SOOOO EXCITED! 😬😬🙏🏻❤️
