(1820 – Present)

One of Long Island’s oldest continually operating cider mills, the Jericho Cider Mill traces its roots back to the early 1800s.

In 1860, Quaker Isaac Ketcham purchased the mill, running it with his brother-in-law William Jagger as the Ketcham & Jagger Cider Mill.

In 1890, the mill was sold to fellow Quaker Benjamin George Doughty, who produced both sweet russet apple cider and a world-famous “champagne cider” until Prohibition. The Doughty family operated the mill for nearly 50 years before selling to John “Farmer John” Zulkofske in 1938. A founding member of the Jericho Fire Department, Zulkofske combined this mill with a neighboring cider press run by John J. Hicks and his grandson Harry Tappan.

The Zulkofske family operated the cider mill for decades, passing it down to George Zulkofske in 1977. In 2015, ownership passed to fellow firefighters Ted Ketsoglou and his son, Kerry, whose family continues the tradition today.

For over 200 years, the Jericho Cider Mill has been a cherished landmark, blending history, community, and the timeless taste of fresh apple cider.
