🚨🦆 ON TODAY’S EPISODE OF DUCK WARS 🦆🚨

After an intense investigation, the authorities discovered our highly dangerous criminal operation consisted of…
6 ducks and 1 chicken. 😂

Unfortunately, due to the town limit, 2 ducks and our chicken Dr. Pepper will be heading to new homes soon. The flock is getting downsized, but the quack chaos will continue.

Charges against us included:
• Possession of excessive quacks
• Illegal levels of cuteness
• Intent to distribute farm fresh eggs
• Running an underground bread-funded organization

Honestly though, thank you to everyone who has supported Mother Quackers Eggs and our little backyard flock. These birds are pets first, spoiled rotten second, and egg producers third. 🥚🦆

We’re sad to see a few go, but grateful they’ll have good homes. And yes… apparently I am still starring in Duck Wars according to my coworkers. 😂

Stay tuned for the next episode.

Molting season is in full swing over here at Mother Quackers 🪶

Right now our girls (including Miss Banana 😅) are putting all their energy into growing new feathers instead of laying eggs… which means egg production has slowed way down. Brown Sugar is only laying about once a week right now, so we just don’t have enough eggs to sell.

The good news — our 4 Indian Runner girls will be laying for the very first time next month 🙌🥚

Full transparency — we even had to grab some local chicken eggs from another backyard coop to get by ourselves.

Thank you all so much for your patience and support while our flock gets back on track. We promise it’ll be worth the wait 💛

Happy Easter from Mother Quackers! 🐣🌷

No eggs for sale this week — our flock is keeping these beauties for family time 💛 But we had to share how amazing they turned out for Easter coloring… seriously, duck eggs might win the prize for best Easter eggs ever 😍

From our backyard to yours, we hope your day is filled with family, fun, and a little extra color 🐥✨

No eggs this week—we need them for our own crew 🥚💛

But we couldn’t leave you hanging without a Banana update… look at this sweet girl enjoying her muddy spa day 😍

Banana is a Buff Orpington, and honestly—they are one of the BEST backyard duck breeds. Here’s why:
✨ Super friendly and calm (she truly thinks she’s part goose, part human)
✨ Beautiful buff coloring that stands out in any flock
✨ Great layers when they’re in season
✨ Hardy and easy to care for—perfect for backyard setups

We love all our ducks, but Buff Orpingtons have a special place in our hearts 🫶

More eggs soon… once Banana decides to share again 😉

I had a post removed and was blocked from posting in a local group (Lovelanders) for sharing that we had a few extra duck eggs available.

Just for some perspective—this is not a farm or a business competing with anyone. This is our backyard, and it’s run by my 11-year-old daughter. Total “sales” so far? About 3 dozen eggs… and we’ve actually given away just as many to friends and family.

We only ever offer what we can’t use ourselves, and most weeks that’s not much at all. This has been a small way to teach her responsibility, work ethic, and what it means to earn something of her own.

I fully support local farms—I shop them too. But I think there’s room in our community for both large-scale farms and small backyard setups like ours.

If supporting a kid learning how to build something of her own is considered “competition,” I think we’ve lost the bigger picture a bit.

Anyway, we’ll keep doing our thing over here at Mother Quackers 🦆💛

Did you know… we have 1 chicken? 😂🐔

Meet **Dr. Pepper** ❤️
She’s 8 weeks old and a **Black Star (Black Sex-Link)** — which basically means she’s known for being a super reliable egg layer and really beginner-friendly.

She’s got about **14 more weeks** before she starts laying, and when she does… get ready for **large, beautiful brown eggs** 🤎🥚

Black Stars are awesome because they’re:
✨ Consistent layers
✨ Hardy in different weather
✨ Friendly and easy to handle

So yes… we *will* have some chicken eggs available too 👀

Dr. Pepper is kind of our little experiment to see if we should’ve started with chickens… and while we LOVE her (she’s seriously the sweetest), let’s be real—

🦆 Ducks are still our thing 😂

Meet our 4 Indian Runner girls 🦆✨

They’re 9 weeks old now and just about 5 weeks away from joining our laying crew with the other two ladies… which means LOTS more eggs coming soon 🙌🥚

We have:
🤍 2 Fawn & White – *Sunrise* and *Strawberry Cheesecake*
🤎 2 Chocolate – *S’mores* and *Hershey*

If you’ve never heard of Indian Runner ducks, they’re such a fun (and hardworking) breed. They stand tall and run instead of waddle, and they are AMAZING foragers. As a gardener, this is a dream — they help keep bugs, pests, and slugs under control naturally 🌱🐛

Happier ducks + natural foraging = better, nutrient-rich eggs 💛

These girls are already busy exploring, helping in the garden, and growing fast. We can’t wait until they start laying and add to our little backyard egg supply.

Get ready… Mother Quackers is about to have a lot more eggs to share 🥚🦆

Meet Brown Sugar 🦆🤎

Her story is a little different than the rest… Brown Sugar is a mallard who was originally raised to be a meat duck and even used as a training duck for bird dogs. But the moment we met her, we knew she wasn’t meant for that life.

She was just too calm, too sweet, and way too gentle — so she became part of our flock (and family 💛).

Mallards can be tricky since they *can fly*, so we had to learn how to safely clip her flight feathers. Now she happily sticks close to home… even though she still thinks she *might* be able to take off someday 😅

She doesn’t lay as many eggs as our other girls, but we still get about 5 beautiful eggs a week from her — and every one of them is special.

This is exactly why supporting backyard eggs like ours matters. Every duck here has a story, a personality, and a place in our family. We’re not a farm — just a small backyard flock sharing what we can.
