Bringing a taste of the Blue Mountains to our shelves! 🏔️🍺
​At Market Place Fresh Foods, we are proud to showcase Side A Brewing, a standout craft brewery hailing from La Grande, Oregon. Whether you're a fan of a crisp pilsner or a hazy, tropical IPA, Side A delivers that authentic Eastern Oregon flavor in every can.
​📜 The Side A Story: From Firehouse to Brewhouse
​Founded in 2016, Side A Brewing began its journey in the heart of downtown La Grande. They found their home in the historic La Grande Fire Department building, which previously served as the Eastern Oregon Fire Museum.
​The name "Side A" actually comes from firefighting terminology—it refers to the "approach side" of a burning building. Just as fire personnel use Side A to navigate a scene, the founders (high school friends Scott McConnell, Travis Hansen, and Nicholas Fairbanks) envisioned the brewery as a place for the community to "navigate the chaos of modern life" over a great pint.
​Where they are now: Today, Side A has expanded significantly. In late 2023, they opened a massive new production facility and tasting room in Island City. This expansion allowed them to increase their output while keeping their original downtown Public House open as a community staple.
