Led by Live Well Geary County, the market’s primary focus is to expand access to healthy foods for the community. This farmers market began in 2014 as a public service of Geary Community Hospital to bring fresh, local foods to the community and support small local producers. In spring 2020, the market pivoted to a community-based approach with Live Well County leading the market coordination in pa

rtnership with Geary Community Hospital, the Geary County Health Department, Konza Prairie Community Health Clinic, and JC Naz Church. We also benefit from valuable insight and mentoring on market operations from Manhattan Farmers Market managers.

We are sad to announce that we will be closing the market today due to weather conditions. We are hoping for sunny skies on Saturday, and we will continue to keep everyone updated.

While rainy weather can be disappointing for market days, it is amazing for our farmers, and we are thankful the crops are getting the water they need.

🌱 Farmers Market Coordinator Opportunity!
(Apply before April 18th)

We’re looking for a dependable and community-minded person to help coordinate our farmers market during the season.

Key Responsibilities
• Set up and break down the information booth and safety equipment
• Coordinate volunteer tasks and help recruit volunteers
• Direct vendors to their assigned stalls
• Collect vendor fees when needed
• Manage nutrition incentive transactions and maintain records
• Answer customer questions and assist visitors
• Promote the market on social media on market days
• Help ensure the market site is left clean
• Work with the Farmers Market Manager on reports and other tasks

Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Comfortable interacting with diverse community members
• Ability to learn new technology
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Knowledge of Kansas Farmers Market Food Safety Guidelines (or willingness to learn)
• Reliable personal transportation

Schedule & Pay
• Seasonal position: May – September
• Up to 15 flexible hours per week during market operations
• Paid position
