They are also planning to have an indoor market this year, but the date is tentative based on the completion of the events building being finished at the outdoor market site. We encourage you to follow their page and continue to support the local vendors during the Fall months, and we will update any information on the indoor season when we know more. Thank you for keeping your money local and supporting community.

This Saturday, 4-26, is probably the final Kalamazoo Winter Market as it was formed in 2011. Our friends at the Kalamazoo Farmers Market run by the PFC Grocery & Deli are planning on hosting a winter market later this season once the construction on a new building for it is finished. When that happens, your favorite "Fresh-Friendly-Local" vendors will be moving down to the new market and bringing you the same level of local goodness each week.
The 1st inception of the Kalamazoo Winter Market was formed in the Fall of 2011 when 2 men, Joe Mapes(owner of the Bingo Hall across from the outdoor market) and Carl Rizzuto(Papa's Italian Sausage) heard the wants and needs of our community and the local vendors that they wished there was a farmers market in the off-season they could enjoy. That first season they competed with another indoor market that was downtown, but it became evident, the place to go was the new Kalamazoo Winter Market. The name was changed the following year to the Bank Street Winter Market to help customers distinguish it from other markets in Kalamazoo. Each year the market grew and grew in popularity because of its dedication to bringing in great local products and vendors wanting to serve their community with those items. Throughout the years we've had vendors who have been with us for all 14 seasons, for the majority of the years, and some briefly filling a spot when available. We have been glad to house many different offerings at the market over the past 14 seasons realizing we needed to make it a market that offers weekly necessity items that our community would want to come in for every week. Many vendors started their small business careers with us and we were glad to be there as a springboard for our local small businesses to try something new and grow. This has always been a vendor run farmers market and community driven, and that is why we have thrived and survived. During the pandemic we had vendors who were outside in the winter, under the awning at the Bingo Hall, selling to all that came. Then, in 2021, after the Bingo Hall had been sold, we were fortunate that Saint Joseph's Church allowed us to use their gym as a market on Saturdays. We went back to our original name of the Kalamazoo Winter Market and have continued and built on the foundation that our originators started years before us. THANK YOU, to everyone who has been involved with this market. We will keep this page available, if for some reason, we are needed to bridge the gap into the new winter market on Bank Street, but for now, "Thanks for the memories"!
