We got our very first quail egg today!!
And it’s BLUEEEE 😍😍😍

Blue egg meaning it’s a Celadon Quail egg. Which is just a recessive trait of Coturnix Quail. They have blue speckled eggs and distinct coloring which is so beautiful.

Update! I think her smile explains. The Barefoot Girl had such a great time working on her poultry showmanship. I think Miss Frizzle enjoyed an evening out as well. 🐥

Rooster delivery #2 of the year. (No the tote is not sealed and yes there is a vent) This one to our awesome neighbor Carrie Imm. Our Handsome Buff Opprington Boy has found some new ladies and made room for our breeding stock roosters 🐓

Our first rooster we delivered to Bierman Equestrian Center is doing great and already took on the beloved name of Doug.

Later today Kylie will be heading out with another chicken. This time it will be to go to her first poultry 4H meeting. Updates to come!

Feeding the chickens this morning, I noticed our black raspberries are finally ripe and ready to pick 😍

One thing we love about homesteading is finding ways to add more food sources to our property. We were especially blessed because black raspberries seem to grow everywhere here! (Thanks God 🙏🏼) The kids can grab a handful for a snack while they’re outside playing, we get to turn them into delicious jams, and honestly, they’re just hard to beat fresh off the bush.

✨Do any of you have black raspberries growing where you live? Or what plants, berries, fruits, or other edible goodies grow naturally on your property?
