Such beautiful vegetables and so convenient to pick up last evening! I love growing for NIF, but I doubly love buying veggies from NIF that I don't have to grow!!!

A non de-script bird, who's been singing like crazy from our Silver Maple, has had me stumped. Today, when harvest was done, I finally had a chance to search out options. Then rain interrupted our internet and my hunt. When our connection resumed, so did my hunt and it was successful. I now know it's the rich song of the warbling vireo that accompanies us while we process our weekly harvests!

The rich song of the Warbling Vireo is a common sound in many parts of central and northern North America during summer. It’s a great bird to learn by ear, because its fast, rollicking song is its most distinctive feature. Otherwise, Warbling Vireos are fairly plain birds with gray-olive upperpart...

We appreciate Simply Nourished enthusiasm for our carrots. We do have more supply in our cooler, but just another delivery or so. Then it will be time to plant the 2021 crop. This fall we'll be excited to supply both the Clear Lake Simply Nourished and the new Simply Nourished opening in Mason City this spring!!!

Turned the bounty from the farm into delicious supper last night.
We still have lots of carrots on hand (you can buy some at Simply Nourished in Clear Lake!). Oops, I spilled a bunch of kale seed into my starter flat last week - means a large handful of tiny kale sprouts after yesterday's thining, garlic and onion still on hand. Pad Thai to the rescue!

Valentine's wishes to you all.

This scrumptiously decadent microwave chocolate cake (courtesy of my dear husband) was my Valentine treat.

We need to send each other warm wishes on these cold days. And we need to keep a firm and clear grip on our life compass, rooted in the message that treating each other with respect and love is still essential and the behavior we should expect.

Hmmm...I'll meditate on that while I dip my spoon into the warm molten cake with ice cream melting around the edges. :)
