We are excited to announce that we are hosting a rain garden workshop! This is a great opportunity to learn about incorporating native plants into your landscape and creating your own rain garden at home. Lunch and all the needed materials will be included in the registration cost!

Shop LOCAL for mom, or bring her along for a beautiful morning in Kentland.

Brook Baking Company will have breakfast, and there will be plenty of sweets and treats, handmade gifts, plants, and unique items from local growers and artisans. 😍

We'll be open from 8-11 a.m. CDT on Third Street, right downtown.

There's no shortage of activities for Mother's Day Weekend in Newton County! Swing by the Kentland Farmers Market on Saturday, May 9th, between 8 and 11 a.m., and then head over to see the Friends of the Sands for their annual native plant sale.

Our Native Plant Sale is coming up on Saturday, May 9 from 10 am to 2 pm (Central Time) at the Kankakee Sands Native Plant Nursery and Greenhouse (1492 W 250 N, Morocco, IN).

We'll have over 40 species of native flowers and grasses available for browsing in the greenhouse. Limit of 100 plants per person please.

Plants are grown in 2-inch by 4-inch pots and are $2 per plant. All donations from our sale support conservation efforts in Newton Co. in northwest Indiana.

Make it a day of exploration at Kankakee Sands! Stop by to browse our plants, hike a trail through the prairie or savanna, and visit the bison. Volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions and help you fall in love with the prairie.

We’re so excited to announce that The Kentland Farmers Market returns this April for YEAR 3! 🎉

That means fresh produce, homemade goodies, local vendors, friendly faces, and all the small-town vibes we love. 💚 There’s nothing better than supporting local businesses and spending a morning soaking up the community.
