In 1914, Otto and Norma Henning made a decision to purchase a rural hometown cheese factory, in the heart of America's Dairyland, near Kiel, Wisconsin and devoted their lives to producing quality cheese. Their son Everett along with his wife Jellane took over the factory in 1963, seeing it through many changes. In the 1980's their children Kay, Kerry & Kert returned to grow the business. Today, gr

andchildren Mindy, Rebekah, Joshua & Zachary continue the legacy. Small local family dairy farmers continue to provide Henning's cheese with a source of quality milk. These farmers pride themselves by pasture grazing their cows when weather permits along with feeding them a balanced diet of natural grains. Henning's uses natural ingredients and most of their items are vegetarian friendly.

95 years and many facility upgrades later, Henning's Wisconsin Cheese still stands as a testament of our family's commitment to making great quality cheese locally — for national enjoyment. With the help of Henning's dedicated employees, consistent quality continues to be our best source of pride. We are incredibly proud and humbled to announce that Joshua Henning of Henning Cheese has been named the 2026 WISCONSIN GRAND MASTER CHEESE MAKER! 🎉

Taking home the TOP PRIZE with our 18-Month Traditional Waxed Cheddar is an incredible honor, especially competing alongside some of the finest cheesemakers in Wisconsin.

And we couldn’t be more proud of our 2026 Wisconsin State Fair results:

🥇 1st Place – Sharp Cheddar – cured over 18 months
🥇 1st Place – Traditional Cheddar Cheese Curds
🥈 2nd Place – Mango Fire Cheddar
🥉 3rd Place – Tomato Basil Cheddar

Dairy manufacturers from throughout the state submitted over 500 entries for the 2026 Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Products Contest, which took place June 18 in the Dairy Building at the Wisconsin State Fair Park. The contest featured over 50 classes for cheese, sour cream, butter, yogurt, milk and custard. 🎡🧀🧈🥛🎡
