Thank you to everyone who joined us on Wednesday, September 25th, for our Nourish & Flourish Potluck Dinner! 💚

We were thrilled to share an incredible evening with roughly 30 guests, enjoying a delicious spread of food and celebrating the cooperative spirit. Together, we learned about worker-ownership and explored opportunities for bulk buying as members. We’re also excited to announce the possibility of using the pop-up shop at CCE as a place for bulk buying at the co-op!

Our community-engagement work group led mindfulness activities, creating a wonderful atmosphere of connection and reflection. A special thank you to all the volunteers, guests who filled out our survey, and the vendors who donated raffle prizes! We are so grateful for your support.

We were so thrilled to have AnnMarie Tedeschi at the South Pine Street Garden for her Flower Essences Workshop last Wednesday! She brings so much joy and profound knowledge of herbalism and our relationship with the natural world and healing to her practice, and it was a beautiful immersion into the world of flowers and the properties they can offer us on our personal life journeys! 🌸💫🍃

Last week, we had a fantastic time at our Permaculture 101 workshop, led by Jared Williams! We took a walk around the South Pine Street Farm, exploring ways to integrate permaculture into the garden and our everyday lives. We left with a deeper understanding of how plants interact with eachother and the interconnectedness of all things in nature. 🌱✨

We had a wonderful time last week at our Garden Talk & Bite Workshop hosted by holistic health coach, Sarah Carlson!! 🌿

We explored what is growing in our stewarded co-op beds and created a very nutritious salad of our very own home-grown tomatoes 🍅 corn 🌽 basil 🌿 marigolds 🌼 nasturtium 🌸 arugula 🌱and kale 🥬 !! We then learned about the deep nutritional benefits of these ingredients toward our overall wellness!

We had such a fun time last week at our Crafting with Nature Workshop! 🌸🌿💫

Shoutout to our amazing facilitator (and Council Member), Elizabeth, who taught us how to press flowers, how to turn veggies into stamps, and how to dye fabrics using FOOD😱!!

Last month, we bid farewell to our dear council president, Keyvious Avery. Let’s take a moment to celebrate a few of the milestones we’ve hit together over these past couple of years!

We’ve expanded our mission and vision, designed a potential location (even securing the funding and people needed), and boosted our solidarity membership by 15%! We also kicked off strategic planning and grew our amazing volunteer base.

Our team’s capacity has grown, too! We created an executive team, increased BIPOC representation in our leadership, opened our first office, and launched the nourishment boxes initiative, leading to awesome vendor partnerships and affordable food for our members.

Thank you, Keyvious, for your service, hard work, and unwavering dedication. As you step into your next chapter, we are confident that the Kingston Food Co-op will continue to grow and thrive, thanks to the strong foundation you’ve helped build. Your impact will not be forgotten! 💚
