you read that right, it’s halal!
when going to BOTH bagel and deli, our turkey, chicken (soup and salad!), pepperoni, and beef bacon are all halal!
soooo why halal and not kosher u may ask?? buying kosher meats for a restaurant in a town like knoxville is very hard, kosher distributors do not make frequent trips here which makes it $$$$$. also… serving unkosher meat (like a pastrami reuben :P) in a space makes it automatically unkosher, and we can’t take these loved (and important to our story) menu items away from you all!
BUT since we care so much about where our food comes from, we have chosen to source mainly halal meats, so there can be a certification of humane practices and we can welcome even more of our customers who eat halal meats for religious reasons!
when ordering, if you ever are curious or hesitant, our chefs are there to help! ask away and they will be able to answer any of your questions and concerns :)))
