Our bushes and grass are wet from the rain we had last evening, and more rain is predicted today. We don't always trust the weather forecasts around here, but it does appear that some rain will be moving through our area this morning. We will be open for berry picking from 8am to 11am today, Saturday, July 11th - but if there is any lightning in the area we will close. There are some ripe blueberries to pick in the back berry patch that is behind the house, but the blueberries are a little more plentiful in the front patch near Bluegrass Road on the far end of the rows. We don't have too many ripe blackberries to pick today, and by 10am any ripe blackberries that we have available right now might be all picked by the people that arrive when we open at 8am. There are some ripe tomatoes you can pick yourself, or we have tomatoes that are already picked that you can buy. We never use any herbicides or pesticides on our produce. We are located at 9020 Bluegrass Road in Knoxville, Tennessee 37922. There are parking spots in front of the house along the driveway, and there is another parking area behind the house too - look for the white lines painted on the grass. You can bring your own buckets if you want to, but we always have good buckets for you to use while you pick berries, and then we weigh your berries and put them in a bag for you to take home. Blueberries are sold by weight at $3 a pound, and blackberries are sold by volume at $4 for a heaping pint container. Please use different buckets for blueberries and blackberries. We only accept cash and checks, no credit cards. We plan to be open from 8am to 11am on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for the next couple of weeks - but berry picking season will be over soon. For ripe blackberries, we suggest you arrive right at 8am when we open on Tuesday 7/14 - often by 9am or 10am all the ripe blackberries available that day are picked! We are not open past noon anymore; we think it is just too hot to be picking berries in the afternoon sun!!!
