Market season starts long before opening day and this crew has been navigating the farmers market seas for you; we know the application fees, insurance needs, rental complexities and larger picture. We also know the big smiles of discovery and share in the joy of you finding ground cherries for the jam your son has been begging you to make again. We know some of the first and last moments of lives are spent here (from newborn squeaks to seeking the bucket-list morels) and we will never take that for granted. Thank you for showing up for us as we do our best to return the favor. Coulee Region, we ๐Ÿซถ you! Happy

A benefit of the work poured into farmers markets is connections we make. Last year we were able to offer $10 in matching per market for EBT customers, this year we can offer $20 - thanks to the collective efforts across the entire state and beyond. Your support, donations and encouragement go a long way here. Thank you all for believing in us to feed the community. ๐Ÿซ‘๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿซœ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿฅฌ๐Ÿฅ• Happy National Farmers Market Week!

One thing we know- your support is vital. At the core, a farmers markets should reflect the community. When the community shows up, the market flourishes. When overlooked or swept to the side and made to adjust: we will. Given how essential and perishable food is, those growing and making it want to be sure it gets onto someoneโ€™s table and thatโ€™s exactly the purpose of a market. There are costs to running a market (we will break that down later this week) and operating as a non-profit but the biggest cost would be losing trust of farmers and community. There are many people working diligently behind the scenes to curate a community hub that offers nourishment and knowledge side by side, and the connections that come from that are priceless.

So tell us: how have farmers markets been there for you? Tell us a story, reflection or memorable meal youโ€™ve made or bought from the market. We will continue sharing this week and we hope you join us in uplifting these unique opportunities (and producers) that we hope never go away. ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿซ›๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅฌ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿง…๐Ÿง„๐Ÿซœ๐Ÿง€๐Ÿงˆ๐Ÿฅฉ๐Ÿซ‘๐Ÿ“๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿง‹๐Ÿด

Now is not the time to give up on farmers - in fact, letโ€™s be fully supporting those who show up ๐Ÿซถ We are going to take this week to share some of our perspective on farmers markets: what/who makes them run, how they can uplift and showcase a community and just how vital your support is. Being able to bring the freshest food to you all is an honor we donโ€™t take for granted- and we are so grateful you choose the farmers market to supply your best meals. Stop by Tuesday at Great River Landing and Friday at Hmong Community Center for a chance to win one of two market basket giveaways donated by generous LFMA vendors and partners. By real people, for real people ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐ŸŒพ
