Do you know why we have Inside and Outside Round Roasts? Maybe you've seen them as Top and Bottom Round Roasts?

When butchers put a round on a cutting table to cut it up, the pelvic bone is usually on the top. So, the Outside Round typically sits on the table, so it's the Bottom of the Round; whereas, the Inside Round is usually on the Top of the cut when its sitting on the cutting table, so its the Top Round.

In large packers today, the rounds may be broken down hanging from a hook, and most consumers never know how a whole Round is broken down, so it makes less sense .

Sunday lunches are great for pot roast, and roasts from the chuck work great in the crock pot. My mother made the best beef roast with potatoes and carrots. I can still smell it.
