Last time I bought these WA eggs I used a different (new) incubators and was extremely disappointed! So this time around I went with our trusted brand! Soooo excited for the next step in developing some OE! 🤗🩵🤎💚

Coming into the fall and winter months, we want to trim our flock down a bit and stock up our freezer! We recently butchered our American Bresse (keeping back one Roo - Big Blue 😊💙 - and a few hens in order to perpetuate our meat flock), as well as some of our older hens and roosters.
J pulled these out of one of the hens… it’s like an assembly line of developing eggs!! I knew that this was the case, but it was SO COOL to see! 🤩🥚

Our ladies had taken a long break (and I guess I did too 🤪), but I’m happy to say we’re back!!!
So much so, we have an over abundance! Before I start glassing them, I want to use as much as I can in large batch meals that I can freeze..
Any suggestions??? I’m already planning to make breakfast burritos, and try some quiche again! What are you go-tos??

Ahhhh, boy oh boy has it been a minute since I’ve been active here!! The last couple months have been SO busy, things just got away from me!

From birthdays and family celebrations 🥳 to hurricanes and dealing with rats chewing the water pipes in our camper 😖….

The kids’ homeschool has picked back up and we’re making some progress on the house! (Yay windows!) 🙌🏼 Happy to be settling back into a routine!! How have your summers been??

Feeling this most days!
Sipping my coffee, and taking a deep breath!

Sitting drinking my coffee on the porch, watching the geese walk around with their goslings. Trying to prepare for the day.
This is for all of you that feel absolutely overwhelmed and like you don’t have your life together and everybody else does.
Social media is often a highlight reel. I’m sitting here and there is chicken p**p all over my porch, kids shoes everywhere, a window blowing loud air in my ear because our AC went out and my house is a mess. I have about four loads of laundry I need to catch catch up on. Kids have been sick and im exhausted.
I 100% feel like I don’t have my life together and I never will. But you know what? I think most of us actually feel that way. And I think the people that have their life together have so much stress too and so incredibly hard on themselves because of high expectations.

So if you too are staring at the laundry pile you need to do, the animals waterers you need to fill, the dishes you need to wash, you are not alone. You’re doing great 🫶🏻. Have a cup of coffee and make a little list and just start with one thing at a time! We got this.

The verdict is in, 8 peeps in total between these 3 mamas! 🐥🤗
I had another broody hen (who did not help to hatch any!) try to move in and push the others out. She was being very aggressive toward the hens AND chicks, and I wasn’t having any of that! Kept having to go in and get her out.
Later on, she had peacefully joined the parenting club and they were allowing her in, so it’s looking like we might have 4 mamas raising these babies. 😆🤷🏻‍♀️

As of this morning, I counted 7, but I suspect there are more under them!
So far, these 3 mamas are all co-parenting really well!! 🥰
