Home Grown will be at the Lake City Farmer's Market today from 5-7.

We have fresh picked and perfectly ripe peaches and apricots! We will also have our oils and vinegars, kale, eggs, and cutting boards hand made by Paul Iverson.

Just a heads up that I will be at the Lake City Farmer's Market today with raspberries, tomatoes, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, jam, eggs, and bagels! Come by and say "hi" from 5-7 today!

Today I want to give you an update, because a LOT has changed in the past month. My husband and I, who were told over 8 years ago that we would probably not be able to have children, have found out we are expecting a baby in January! This is very exciting news, but it comes with challenges.

As a result of pretty severe morning (all-day) sickness, I have not been able to work much on the greenhouse or the business this past month. Planning for a baby has changed our plans and timelines, and at this point I do not expect to open the store this summer after all.

I thank you all for your enthusiasm and support. Hopefully Home Grown will get off the ground in the not too distant future.

Some people have asked what got me started with this Home Grown project. I would say it began on my grandparent's choose-and-cut christmas tree farm when I was a young girl. On that farm, my grandmother taught me to plant and harvest, to bake, and to create. In her gift shop, she showed me that those home grown and hand made things had value, and both my grandparents modeled entrepreneurship. They left me with a love for growing things that I want to share with you through this greenhouse and everything it can become.

Happy Thursday friends! No sale this week, but I wanted to give you an update on what’s happening with the store as we prepare for our big opening in June! Some of you may have already noticed that the interior has gotten quite a face lift, with new paint and wallpaper. My parents have been hard at work doing the renovations, and it’s looking great! This week we are working on new vinyl flooring in the greens prep room and the bathroom. From there, we will be installing more display shelving, sinks, coolers, and also… a smoothie bar! 🥤🍓🥤🌱

That’s right, starting in June, Home Grown will be serving ‘fresh from the greenhouse’ smoothies packed with fresh picked greens to keep you refreshed and healthy.

We are so excited to see you in June so you can check it all out for yourselves!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported Home Grown these last couple months! I have loved seeing you all, sharing great produce, and piloting the business.

Today will be the last produce sale until our grand opening in June. Be on the lookout for updates about what is coming to the shop, and for more information about opening dates and events.

Along with the greens, we have even more seedlings available this week! Any of these plants can go outside now and a frost won't hurt them a bit.

The tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, beans, and snap peas are all growing. They will be here before you know it!

Good morning! We are back this week with lots of fresh lettuce and spinach and also... some seedlings! I will have kale and swiss chard seedlings available this week. Both of these plants are very easy to grow in pots or in the ground. They can go outside now, and they will last all summer long. Come get yours on Saturday!
