As conversations continue about a “return” of a Lake Stevens Farmers Market in 2026, I want to take a moment to offer some clarity.
I will not be involved in the operation, management, or development of this new market.
Over the past year, I did have conversations with the Chamber about the future of a market in Lake Stevens. Those conversations ultimately centered around financial outcomes, while my work has always been rooted in community-building, accessibility, and long-term sustainability for small businesses. After sharing that perspective and offering to support in a consulting capacity aligned with those values, I was not contacted further.
Building a farmers market is not just about logistics or revenue — it’s about relationships, trust, and showing up week after week for vendors, farmers, and the community. It requires an immense amount of behind-the-scenes labor, care, and personal investment. Those of you who worked alongside me or vended with us over the past six seasons know firsthand what that took. Farmers markets don't just happen.
Out of respect for that work - and for my own well-being in addition to caring for a parent with Stage 4 cancer - I made the decision to step away.
I’m incredibly proud of what we built together. I also fully support our vendors as they make the best decisions for their businesses, whether that’s continuing in Lake Stevens or finding homes in other markets like Snohomish and Monroe.
Looking ahead, I remain open to the possibility of bringing back a market experience that aligns with the values this community came to love — in a space that is supportive, sustainable, and accessible.
For now, I simply want to be clear: this next iteration is not mine.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Come see us in Snohomish!
