Root Down Foods A Lamar, MO homestead transformation project. This is a journey to self-sufficient gardening and ranching; a unique local food source and destination.

Root Down Foods is part of a 200 acre farm transformation. This market garden sits on the homestead of Roth Farms that was founded by Phil Roth in 1950 something. Over the last 30 years much of the homestead and wooded property boundaries have been mostly left untamed. Courtney Roth, the grandson of Phil Roth, began transforming the farm in May of 2014. The farm is now on it's way to a full transf

ormation to a mostly old world style garden and ranch including a large market garden, fruit and nut trees, a variety of berry bushes and grapes, sugar maple trees, bee hives and a variety of livestock that will make the 200 acres their home.
