Today we’re giving thanks for the hands that grow our food, the land that sustains us, and the joyful moments that remind us why local matters - like this sweet scene from Happy Hens NC, LLC where farm life means raising your Thanksgiving turkeys with care, compassion, and plenty of kid-approved snuggles.

As we gather around our tables, we also pause with gratitude and respect for the Indigenous peoples who have cared for this land for countless generations. Honoring the land means honoring its full history and the communities who stewarded it long before us.

Just a couple degrees shy of frost on the farm this morning.

This weekend was not a great time to have damage from flooding, given Helene was less than a year ago, but you've got to roll with the punches.

This storm was super concentrated over our little valley. 3 miles away the storm total was only 1.5" whereas in our valley it was 4" to 5" in two hours.

We lost a big chunk of soil from a landslide by our driveway, but the chickens are all safe.

One of the many reasons we love farming: doing it together as a family! These two joyfully tag along for farm chores every single day! Paul and Bri went on their first date in this 1994 Chevy truck, and now new memories are being made with the kiddos.

No shortage of butterfly's on our farm! There were at least 20 while doing chores.

Seems like we must be doing something right if butterfly's are declining everywhere else, but we're chock full of them.

Our pasture is in full growth mode, ready for our summer chicken flocks! We've left our usual milkweed spot uncut for the butterflies and I can already see some milkweed coming up!

‼️We’ve just received word that the Town of Boone will begin milling the parking lot at our current market location today.

🚗🚙Please be aware that parking may be limited and uneven this Saturday, May 10, due to construction prep. Market staff will be on-site to help direct traffic - thank you for your patience!🙏

What You Need to Know: Temporary Market Move
• Saturday, May 10 – Final market at our current location (some areas will be milled gravel)
• Saturday, May 17 & Saturday, May 24 – Market will temporarily move to the State Farm Lot - 197 Dale St.
• We’ll share timeline updates and details about our return home as soon as we have them.

Spring is just starting at the top of Whenlin Ridge at around 4200ft.

Another week or two and it'll be just as green as our farm at 3500ft. We still have frost dangers though! We had frost on May 10th.
