We hope you had a great Labor Day weekend and are ready to restock your fridges at your weekly neighborhood farmers market!

Let G3Food4All make you dinner with Vegetarian and Vegan Lasagna with sides of Ugglie Veggie and Garlic Toast available; Poppa's Cookbook will have Pulled Pork, Baked Beans, and Coleslaw; and Picnic Food Truck will have their tried and true burgers, sandwiches and fries.

Try out The Cheese Lady's new cheese, “The Truffler” on a mushroom fritter from Mycophiles Garden or a burger from Whispering Valley Farms! This cheese is a seriously delicious English Cheddar with Truffles and Olives.

Mycophiles Garden is back after their week off with two new mushroom varieties! They will be bringing Coral Tooth and Comb Tooth which are close cousins of Lions Mane. They taste similar in flavor to Lions Mane but their structure is much more delicate. They work great for nuggets, fritters, or "crab cake."

Titus Farms will have a special variety of watermelons this week called Moon and Stars! This legendary heirloom watermelon features a dark green rind that contrasts with a sprinkling of golden yellow dots. This melon look like a beautiful starry night and tastes amazing too!

There will be a HAP CareSource Mobile Health Clinic at the Market this week! You can shop local produce and receive health support from HAP CareSource and the Ingham County Health Department! You can receive basic medical supplies, preventative services (blood pressure screenings and A1C testing), harm reduction supplies, and vaccinations. No appointment is needed! If you have insurance, please bring your insurance card. You can find the mobile health unit in the side parking lot on the corner of Kalamazoo and Shepard St.

We're in the time of the season where summer produce is needing preservation before you lose the chance to have local tomatoes in February! Sunny has something to say about that......Click the link below to see what they have to say and for more info on this week's market:

Meet Khoua Xiong, the farmer and owner of Khoua’s Veggies! They are an Eastside neighbor and a staple in our summer market.

Khoua has loved gardening since she was a little girl and when she arrived in Lansing, she was excited to discover all the community gardens around the neighborhood! What started as growing food for her family and friends eventually turned into feeding the greater Eastside community and beyond.

She recognized a need within the local Asian community for vegetables that were familiar to their home countries, but difficult to find in American grocery stores. Alongside typical market produce, you will find vegetables and herbs traditionally used throughout East and Southeast Asian foods including: Malabar Spinach, Thai Eggplant, Yu Choy, Bok Choy, and much more!

Khoua grows all her produce organically and works to keep it affordable as well. Making fresh, locally grown food accessible to everyone is an important part of what she does. Khoua’s Veggies is a true family effort, with her children taking turns helping out at each Market. Usually you can meet Khoua’s sons, Chang or Wa, when you stop by their booth on Wednesdays from 3:00 - 6:30pm!

Stop by their booth this month at the Market before their season ends!

Just like that, it's September. While you're making your plans for this upcoming Labor Day weekend, don't forget your meal planning! With the recalls our nation has seen with food recently, there is a safety and comfort in knowing your farmer. Plus buying locally is very comparable in rates with your general grocery store. So do yourself a favor and eat well by shopping local with our produce and food producers!

For produce options at the Market this week we have Hillcrest Farms, Three Lakes Gardens, Khoua’s Veggies, Coleen's Greens, Magnolia Ave Farm Collective, and Titus Farms.

Coleen’s Greens will have a NEW item this week: Sweet Corn! A true taste of summer that will brighten up your week! Coleen will also have Roma and Beefsteak Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes, Poblanos, Bell Peppers, Hot Peppers, Eggplant, Winter Squash, Green Beans, Fresh Herbs, and Spices!

From Khoua’s Veggies check out one of their most popular produce items–green beans! They recommend stir frying them with garlic and olive oil for a balanced but satisfying side!

Titus Farms has musk melons; varieties are called Hannah's Choice and Sarah's Choice. Often folks will ask how to choose the best melon, and their tagline is: good smellin’ means good melon!

You can taste the rainbow at Magnolia Avenue Farm Collective and enjoy tunes by Mars McCartney at 4pm.
