China Rejects Argentine Beef Shipment Over Banned Antibiotic

China has rejected a 22-ton shipment of Argentine beef after testing reportedly detected traces of chloramphenicol, an antibiotic banned in food-producing animals.

The shipment came from a processing plant in Argentina that was subsequently suspended from exporting to China while authorities investigate how the substance got into the meat.

Argentina’s food-safety agency is investigating the case, while the company has questioned the test results.

Importantly, China did not ban Argentine beef altogether, and the incident does not mean Argentine beef imported into the U.S. is contaminated.

The case comes as the U.S. looks to increase beef imports from Argentina amid rising beef prices. 🇦🇷🇨🇳🇺🇸

Went to The Classic Cup yesterday morning to make plans for some upcoming events with Chef Michael Tyler Frye, and of course we had to eat while we were there!

This is The Bronx.

Smoked Gouda sauce, TrueCuts bratwurst, pastrami, peppers and onions, all piled onto Roma bread and served with roasted potatoes.

No exaggeration, this was one of the absolute best breakfasts we've ever had. Chef Tyler absolutely killed it.

Seeing our products turned into food like this never gets old. 🔥

Getting Piggy With It!!! 🐷🍳

Chef Michael Tyler Frye at Classic Cup on the Plaza absolutely crushed this one using our TrueCuts smoked pork chops.

Seared farm fresh smoked pork chop glazed with a handmade bourbon sweet onion bacon jam (made with our jowl bacon), served over farmer hash with two eggs any style.

This is exactly what we love seeing. Local food in the hands of a great chef. 🔥

My take on Italian Wedding Soup, but no pasta. 🍲

I don't know a local farmer growing wheat, so I skipped the pasta and kept it simple with tiny meatballs and plenty of vegetables.

I've also been putting yellow squash in just about everything lately because we had volunteer squash plants pop up in the old chicken run. 🤷🏽‍♂️😂 When the garden gives you squash, you find ways to use it!
The bigger slices got roasted with Parmesan on the side, and honestly, this meal turned out pretty dang good.

Good food doesn't have to be complicated. Just use what you've got. 🌱🥩
