Firstly, thank you all for your kind messages on my last post. I really miss seeing you all. I have recently returned from a trip to England. It was the first time I had been back in the month of January for over 25 years! Fortunately, I was able to catch the last days of the Christmas lights in London. I have included a selection of photos, mainly taken on Regents Street and Bond Street. It was an impressive display! Take care, David

ANNOUNCEMENT: To paraphrase Paul Revere “The British are going!” Today, Saturday 29 November, will be the final day for Redcoats. The store will be open from 12-6. The good news is that the remaining stock is now 75% off, so come in and grab some great bargains!

You may detect a slight quiver in the stiff upper lip today… I can’t thank you all enough for your incredible support. It has been my pleasure serving you. Without your loyalty and patronage, Redcoats would not have been in business for 10 months, let alone 10 years.

Please remember to support two other locally-owned British businesses:

Brit Boy Street Food

A Slice of British.

I will be keeping the Redcoats page open in the future and will be posting photos and updates. Take care and cheers!

Sincerely,
David

ANNOUNCEMENT: After 6 years working at Redcoats, this Friday (October 31) will be Barry’s final day at the store. He has loyally covered for me to keep the store open during my trips to England. Barry has been the undisputed ‘Employee of the Month‘ for many years, often beating me to the title! Among many things, I will miss his stories and the weekly battle of the bands between the Beach Boys and John Mayer Pandora radio stations! It’s finally “All Quiet on the Western Front“ my friend.

UPDATE: The TARDIS has been sold this week to a popular TikToker with over 4 million followers and 89 million likes! (Scotty K Fitness). The TARDIS travelled from Redcoats in Kansas through the Space Time Vortex to Oklahoma via a Ford pick-up truck!
The store is still currently well stocked, with a number of items for sale in a newly-created 50% off marked price area previously occupied by the TARDIS.

Mr Kipling makes exceedingly good cakes, but then so does Angela at ’Slice of British’! These Battenberg cakes are new to Redcoats.
In other news, ‘Slice of British‘ will be opening a booth at Painted Tree Boutiques in early September. It is located at 8500 W. 135th Street in Overland Park. They will selling all their popular baked goods, but also candies and crisps from the UK.

ANNOUNCEMENT: I’m sorry to inform you that after being open for 10 years, Redcoats will be closing its doors at the current location in Leawood. The lease for the store will end on Saturday, November 29. The restaurant next door, Ironhorse Bar & Grill (owned by the landlord), will be expanding into the Redcoats space.

However, another local British-owned business, Brit Boy Street Food, has stepped in to acquire Redcoats! This exciting new venture will create a one-stop shop for authentic British pies, sausage rolls, candies and teas. Brit Boy has plans for their own location by the end of Q2 in 2026 if all goes to plan and their business continues on its current trajectory. You may even see me helping out behind the desk!

In the meantime, the store will remain as fully stocked as possible. We have also made an early Christmas order of Advent calendars, stockings and selection boxes for delivery in early November. Nearer to the closing date, store fixtures such as shelving, cabinets and tables will be available to purchase. The replica Dr Who TARDIS will also be available for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

Please continue to follow the Redcoats page for further updates in the upcoming months.

Finally, a huge thank you to all our loyal customers who have supported Redcoats over the years. The store has truly been a labour of love for me to provide a taste of home for the local community of British ex-pats, Anglophiles, and the curious. It has been an honor for myself and Barry to have served you.

Take care and cheers.
