With great sadness, we’d like to announce we’re closing. While an exact final date has yet to be determined, within the next 30 days we will be closed. We’ll run our fresh departments (Meat, Produce, Deli, Bakery) through at least the end of February so there is still plenty of time to stock up your meat freezer and refrigerator! It will take some additional weeks into March afterwards to close out the remainder of the products and stock.

It has been a great run. Our first location opened in 1929 in the Northwest Side of Chicago as simply a small produce mart. Four generations and 88 years later, here we are! We’ve been at our current Lemont location since 1988, twenty-nine years! Wow! Lemont will always hold a special place in our hearts. We’ve been residents of Lemont since 1980 and have watched the town grow and evolve to what it has become today. While it’s painful for this to end under our watch, life marches on.

We’re extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to make so many special memories here and meet so many special people. We’re blessed to have had privilege of giving countless teenagers their very first jobs and all that entails: their first paycheck, schedule, working with others, learning customer service. Years later, after they’ve moved on from us and their careers and families have blossomed, many return to Chipain’s to shop or just to catch up. They share with us what special memory they took from their first job, what little life or job lesson they learned while at our business. We will certainly miss those conversations

The store has also provided us the opportunity get to know and chat with so many individuals and families who live in and around our town. From our daily “regulars” and the countless “characters” to just, in general, good people, you’ve become like our 2nd family. All of you will surely be missed! We are blessed to have had the opportunity to know you. I personally will miss my daily chats with all our customers.

We’d like to thank our loyal, dedicated, and hardworking staff. None of this could have been possible without you. Your contributions are certainly appreciated! Some key staff members have been working at our business for 20+ years. We will miss you all. That said, we are confident with the skills they possess they will land on their feet and have future success in whatever endeavor they choose.

Most of all we’d like to express our gratitude to you, our customers. Thank you so much for your past and current patronage. You’ve always had many choices for your grocery needs, now more than ever, and we sincerely thank you for choosing us. It is and always has been extremely appreciated.

We wish you all the best! We will miss you. Thank you for everything!
