Plants for Sale at Four Seasons Farm.

Yes, Fall is the best time to plant many plants and trees, giving them time to develop roots.
The first picture is actually of volunteer tomatoes which sprouted on the compost pile :-) They look happy, don't they :-)

Which plants are available?
Ruby June Strawberries, well know for their exceptional sweetness, huge yields and long shelf life.
1-9 $ 5, 10 and more $ 4,50.
I'll be bringing a few of them to the Meigs County Farmers' Market but if you are looking for larger quantities you may have to get them from the Farm directly.
Ruby June is a patented, high-yielding June-bearing strawberry variety developed by Lassen Canyon Nursery in California. It is widely celebrated for its rich sweetness, deep red color all the way through, firm texture, and long shelf life.

Many of you who were introduced to the Asian Non astringent persimmons are disappointed our crop failed almost as bad as our apples did this year. Well, that did not discouraged me and I bought 100 of them this year.
Recently one super nice lady asked me if I would sell her one. It took me a few days to make up my mind as I am kind of "greedy" :-) when it comes to plants I do really like :-) but I sold it to her.
When I told that to Isabel who is still in Philippines, she reminded me how often I talk about downsizing :-)
Therefore, I am offering Ichi Jiro Persimmon trees for sale. Not many you know? :-) :-)
Ichi Jiro is well suited for our climate and since I got a quantity discount, I can offer them to you for just $55. (they usually go for around $ 80 at this size)
Farm pick up only as they are rather large in 3 gallon pots.

We also have several house plants, Eucalyptus, Ginger and Lavender.

Our Asian Persimmon production failed quite miserably this year with almost no No astringent varieties. But we got some Astringent ones. Those, same as the American persimmon need to be fully ripe (soft) to be good and sweet. They can be sliced up and dehydrated, but I am struggling to keep up with the work load now when Isabel is not here.
So, as they gradually ripen I make a puree out of them, freeze the puree and it will be turned into Persimmon Fruit Leather later.
And the best tool to make this puree is this Victorio Strainer we bought a couple years back at a garage sale. It is some 60 years old :-) Manual but easy to operate, the best separation of the unwanted parts of the fruit, easy to clean. It will be absolutely perfect for making Ketchup :-) :-)

The Meigs County Farmers' Market creates a bond not only between vendors but with some Market followers as well.

Look what I came home from the Market with yesterday :-)
A huge clump of the Hen of the Woods (Maitake) was given to us.
Dehydrator is busy :-) :-)

Almost ready for the Meigs County Farmers' Market

Our Season is almost over and I do not have much to take with me. Some Muscadine grapes, a few tomatoes, Purple Sweet potatoes.

Fresh Whole Wheat bread
and as always, some plants.

It will be another beautiful day today, so come to see us at the Market in Pomeroy 10am -1pm :-)

You know what ???
Having friends who come and visit you when you are alone, is just precious. They helped with harvesting Muscadine grapes but importantly, they gave me company and love. And in return, I cut some of our roses for them :-)
Now, I am going to start dough for the bread I will bake in the morning.
I am a super lucky man to have so many good friends :-)

I can do up to 50 chickens per day working by myself using the chicken plucker.
Ducks are different. Their soft skin does not cope well with the plucker. Up to 2 hours of work getting all pin feathers out of one by hand.
But look at the results.
Clean as a whistle. And it was a perfect day for this kind of work :-)
