There are many reasons to shop at your local farmers' market but one important one is more confidence in knowing where your food comes and the process of how it got from the farm to your table, which is often a much, shorter and therefore safer, route than in industrial agriculture.

"Just by the nature of that short supply chain—fewer opportunities, fewer hands, handling the food over time I think do ensure that local food is a safe source of food,” -Ryan Dennett, programs director at the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association"

We'll be open for pur community with fresh local salad greens and more this Sunday. Got questions or concerns? You can ask your farmer right then and there.

Another great end of the week coming up starting with a unique dance performance from the Bates Dance Festival merging Martha Graham technique with pop and-drag elements Festival at Schaeffer Theatre (7:30 PM – 8:30 PM) then the Art Walk on Friday, July 31st hosted by L/A Arts and then of course the Lewiston Farmers Market on Sunday, 9:30 am - 1:00 pm.
