Our Background

We are thankful that the Lord has guided and cared for us over many years and given us wisdom in our choices and decisions, so that we are able to share with you a heritage of carefully grown produce.

As a young boy, I remember farming with my grandfather. I have always enjoyed working with plants.

My wife and I married in 1991. Over the years, no matter how small our space, our home and yard were filled with plants, flowers , and a family garden.

In 1996, my wife was expecting our first child. We began to realize how important it was to make more careful eating choices. On April 24, 1997, our first child Lydia Grace was born, She lived 9 days, and went home to be with the Lord. During the time of our grief, the Lord taught us many things. One of those was learning to walk more carefully down the path of healthy food choices as we read the book, What the Bible Says about Healthy Living by Dr. Rex Russell.

In search of better food options, we began using a local food co-op and helping others to begin using this option as well.

In 2001, we helped to re-organize the local food co-op into a buying club. Thus, Bread for Life Natural Foods & More was started. Now, we are able to better help more families in their search for a healthier way of life by allowing families to special order natural and organic foods, supplements, and products they need.

By 2007, the Lord had now given us 4 more children, and was allowing me the opportunity to work from home, as well as, making my first venture into family farming and farmers' markets. I began looking for better ways to grow healthy produce. Over the years, my oldest son and I have done much researching, studying, testing, and practicing in how to use more & more natural approaches to farming.

In 2015, we moved to Casey County and began organic farming, as well as, continuing Bread for Life Natural Foods and More. In 2019, we began Back to Farm Produce Market allowing you to share in our heritage and community of carefully grown produce from our farm and other farm.
