We are the Andersons, the proud owners and operators of 5 Stones Family Farm! We decided to ditch city life in May and embarked on the adventure of a lifetime by purchasing our 20 Acre orchard. It was very neglected and wild when we came along but its well on its way to becoming a beautiful, blessed place to be. Much more work to do so make sure to follow us and see updates, videos, pictures and all around shenanigans from the 5 stones crew!

A few days ago we shared about some of the challenges this growing season has brought and how this year may look a little different for our farm. We are planning to offer wholesale-style bulk fruit sales directly from our farm as different harvests become available.

We know grocery prices are hard on families right now, and if we can help people fill their kitchens with local fruit at better pricing while also helping our farm navigate a difficult agricultural year, we’d love to do that.

If you’d like updates on availability, pricing, and pickup opportunities this fruit season, you can fill out the short survey below 👇 clickable link can also be found in our bio. Should only take about 45 secs

https://us18.list-manage.com/survey?u=32f492d017e4181919a881d40&id=5f713a1566&attribution=false

Filling it out will add you to our email list for bulk fruit updates throughout the harvest season.

Also, thank you to everyone who reached out with encouragement and support after our last post. We truly appreciate all of you ❤️

This season is going to look a little different for us.

With the late rains and some unusual weather patterns this year, what we hoped would be a strong cherry season just didn’t pan out the way we expected. Many of our trees didn’t produce any cherries the remaining produced half of what we expected and some of the fruit that did make it split from the rain.

A lot of our apricots didn’t produce this year either, and for our peach varieties, we have some blocks that did really well and others not so much.

That’s farming.

Every year teaches you something new, humbles you a little, and reminds you that agriculture is always changing. Farmers are constantly adapting, adjusting, and figuring out how to keep moving forward season after season.

So this year, we’re making some changes too. What does that look like?

Instead of the 3 farmers markets a week we were doing last year, we’ll only be attending Sundays at Fowler Ranch Farm Market with a later debut than last year, popping up at the end of May.

We’re also going to be offering bulk sales at wholesale-style pricing directly to consumers on some of the fruit we DO have in abundance — including certain plums, pluots, nectarines and peach varieties — for farm pickup only.

We know times are tough for a lot of families right now, and if we can make it easier for people to get fresh local fruit at better pricing while also helping our farm adapt to a difficult season, that feels like a win-win.

In the next few days we’ll be releasing a survey for anyone interested in bulk fruit orders. Filling it out will allow you to receive email updates about current availability, pricing, and pickup information throughout the season.

If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, keep an eye out for the post coming soon!

As winter winds down here’s what we’ve been up to on the farm!

1. After 3 years we finally started working on a sign for the farm.
2. Solar panels arrived and installed.
3. Our almonds are usually the first trees to bloom out in February.
4. First buds on the upcoming Apricot trees
5. First born learning some lost skills with blacksmithing classes.
6. Ben busy building a large compost tea bin for the property. Currently brewing up our first batch!
7. February hatching of more cute little bug eaters.

My wife has been designing a product line all about faith, farm and family on our etsy shop. She's been working tirelessly on this since our harvest season ended. The scabs on our fingers weren't even gone yet lol. This has been a sobering year for us financially. The farm suffered expensive break downs and my day job has gone very quiet. Please help us share the news of our new endeavor far and wide and a few extra prayers never hurt.
